Great day at Saqqara with with a great guide!

We had 3 days in Cairo and booked two tours with two different tour companies. We booked the Saqqara, Dahshur, Memphis Tour (with lunch) with GEM Expolre Egypt. We went with our three boys aged 10, 8 and 5. We had the best day! I couldn't fault the company, from initial contact, lots of questions from me (specifically the extras we wanted to do at Saqqara), payment, pick up, all the way to drop off. We were contacted by our tour guide via WhatsApp. This included his picture and he let us know when he was waiting outside our Air BnB with the driver in the morning. Wael, our tour guide, was extremely nice, approachable, very knowledgeable and brilliant with our boys (and took a few great family photos at all 3 sites). He spoke better English than me!!! He also ensured we weren't pestered by sellers, not that there were many. We opted to have food towards the end of the tour, more dinner than lunch, so it was back in Giza in view of the Giza Necropolis. Lunch was Egyptian (with drinks extra as clearly stated), it was nice and plentiful. We did stop at the Papyrus shop but there was no pressure to buy anything. The boys enjoyed seeing the stages of how papyrus was made from reeds. There are some very beautiful pieces in there to view. I would highly recommend visiting Cairo and using this tour company. Throughout the tour we felt safe and well looked after. If we visit Egypt again (hopefully we will) we will definitely use GEM Explore Egypt again. Thank you for such a memorable day.

Great tour of the "other" Pyramids.

Would highly recommend this full day tour. I chose this tour because other reviewers rated the fact that there was no rushing, and no pressured sales opportunities. These sites need a full day, so don't try to fit these in with Giza on the same day. Ali is very knowledgeable guide, and open to discussion on the reasons why the Pyramids were built. He gives you plenty of time to explore. And lunch was great! Grilled chicken + buffet selection. Thank you, Ali & Mohammed.

Tour was well worth it and definitely recommended

Our guide (sadly I now forgot her name), picked us up (three adults) at the Marriot Mena hotel. She was in the lobby waiting for us before we were even there. She led us to the shuttle/car (nice and roomy) and introduced our driver. The drive down to Saqqara area was also interesting in being able to see the rural Egyptian life/landscape, which was a stark comparison to my local area in the US. After getting to Saqqara, she first brought us to the Imhotep Museum, a nice quiet and relatively small museum with many artifacts that was better than I was expecting. Our guide spoke about many specific pieces of interest and then let us view the museum on our own while she waited at the entrance when we had finished. After this we drove the very short distance to the Step Pyramid/Necropolis complex, along the way, she also pointed out some other features nearby, including ongoing tomb excavations. She led us to the Pyramid of Unas where we were able to tour inside, followed by a visit to a nearby princess tomb. Our guide then again let us explore the entire area on our own without any rush. We then drove a very short distance south to the Red and Bent Pyramids. Although there were little crowds at the Bent Pyramid area, here at the two other pyramids it was almost vacant of people and felt like we had the places to ourselves. We had the opportunity to go inside both pyramids, two out of three us in our group decided to go into the “easier” Red Pyramid. It took some effort and we worked up a sweat inside. Although not decorated, the interior was very interesting and glad to have done/seen it and experienced the interior. After we were done at the pyramids, we headed to the Mit Rahina Musuem (open air) in the local downtown. Highlight here were a few large carved statues, primarily the huge Ramesses statue. Perhaps not a place worth visiting on its own, but as part of the Sakkara trip tour, it was worth the quick detour to get there. On the return to Cairo, the tour provided lunch was at the Valley of the Kings restaurant, about 15 minutes away from our starting point hotel. This was an outdoor seating area (covered) that served a large buffet/grill style food selection that was very good. Along the way, we stopped at a papyrus scroll making store, which wasn’t expected stop ahead of time as part of the tour. This type of place seemed relatively common for tour stops, this was the only place on the tour that we could’ve just as easily skipped, thankfully it wasn’t a long time stopped there. Overall this tour was excellent; our guide was outgoing, friendly, and knowledgeable all around. I especially liked that she was not pushy at all and allowed us to also have free time at each site, and without any rush at any stop, including lunch.

A tour not to be missed.

This was an amazing tour jam packed with historic sites. The Imhotep Museum, the Step pyramid and the surrounding tombs are unmissable. Our guide “Gi Gi” is extremely knowledgeable and quite obviously loves her subject. A big thank you to both Gi Gi and Tariq our driver for this memorable day.

Geweldige private tour

Fantastic introduction to pharaonic period

We did the tour for our first day in Egypt, before we started an Intrepid group tour the next day. It was a great introduction and Wael our tour guide was fantastic. He is very knowledgeable and we would have missed so much if we had tried to do this on our own. It was a full day tour and having a driver and a guide made e the day really easy.

The Best Tour Guide Ever!

I had such a great time the day before, I booked a second day with tour guide Samar and driver Osama to see Saqqara, Memphis, and Dahshur. Not only did I get to see the sites listed in the tour description, Samar personalized my trip by honing in on my specific interests. I am so impressed by the experience curated for me. Samar and Osama were professional, kind, and sincere. Thank you for making my first trip to Egypt so memorable and special!
