Best Tour Guide
I booked a private tour to Giza Pyramids, Sphinx, and Egyptian Museum. My tour guide, Ebrahim, was excellent, punctual, and courteous! He is very knowledgeable about history dating back 3000 BCE and will share many details. He takes excellent pictures and videos. I had a private car pickup and driven to all locations.

Excellent day out with a great guide
I had a fabulous day out with Nevin Morris She took me as a solo female traveller around the Pyramids and Sphinx area. As a very experienced guide she gave lots of information about the history of the tombs and Pharoahs . I felt very safe and comfortable as a female and, also as a fellow animal lover, I appreciated her love and interest in the strays that live there.
She makes the day seamless, as she knows many of the guards and vendors around the area. This made it a hassle free experience. And if you want that special Instagram pic, she will make it happen.
Ok, She does take you to a perfume shop nearby at the end, as do other guides, but there is no pressure to buy at all.

Beware of the perfume store scam. Do not buy anything and say no store stops
I debated for a while whether to leave this review or not since it’s not 5 stars like what others left on TripAdvisor for this specific pyramids tour. As expected, you tip for everything in Egypt. Even to enter “closed” tombs, you had to tip on top of what you already paid for so just be ready to have small Egyptian bills for all these tips.
Our experience has not been great. We had a different tour guide that is not Nevin. Our tour guide was fine. He shared lots of facts, took us around the pyramid complex with our driver and took photos of myself and my husband. He took care of the people begging and trying to sell us stuff. He also let us customize our tour which we visited GEM instead of Saqqara.
We trusted him until he told us that he he bring us to the perfume store just to “sample” some perfumes. This is where things changed. Our guide said we will sit down, smell some perfumes, and he will leave for a bit to get our lunch. So he left to do that and we were basically alone in the shop with the very PUSHY store workers. We didn’t want to buy anything because we came to Egypt with a carry on luggage and we no longer have room for stuff. They forced us to basically buy a whole pack of perfume which had 4 bottles…we felt like we were stuck there since our guide left us. And whenever we tried to say no, they would already start packing the perfumes and we felt like we could no longer say no. We felt cornered to buy these perfumes.
Then the guide came back with our “lunch” which took him so long to get by the way. They were just regular street food falafel sandwiches and nothing special. After we paid for the perfumes forced onto us, they basically moved us to a corner of the store where they put up a wall divider so we can have “privacy” and we ate our sad falafel sandwiches.
After this experience, I could not wait faster to leave Cairo. Unfortunately, this experience has made us think of this trip to Cairo as one of the worst places we’ve been to. The pyramids are beautiful but the testament to us, tourists, are unacceptable. Our guide should have been more protective and not in with the scamming like the perfume store or the papyrus store.
If you take this tour, our advice is to let them know you DO NOT want to stop at any stores. Period. And let them know you no longer have money. If they think you have money, they will try to take you to these stores. The products are not great - we used them when we got home and they were awful smelling.
The other thing we didn’t like was that we had a reservation at Khufu’s restaurant for lunch. We told our guide this and he talked us out of it because Khufu’s was “expensive” and “touristy” which is why we ended up at this perfume store.
The driver was great. But just beware when you book tours like this. Say no shops in the beginning and insist on sticking to your plan you made.

Super Trip into the Past
Marvellous experience with Nevin Morris. She was courteous, humorous, well informed, well connected with local camel drivers and other vendors and really does know where to find the best falafel sandwiches. What I really appreciated was her flexibility - giving us choices of places to visit or leave out -and being with someone who treated everyone everywhere with respect and dignity.
