Ottima esperienza

It was a comfortable ride but a disappointing guide. His explanations took less than 15 minutes, so probably a guide is not needed after all. He asked us to tip at the end and we were unhappy about it. Remember, a tip is a BONUS for quality service above the FEE we PAID for the service.

In my opinion, I don’t think the tour was a good value for the money and time we spent. I’d recommend reading about Abu Simbel online and booking cheap group transportation there. We basically got the “tour” in the car on the way using photos. This was actually a very good decision since the alternative would have been standing in the blazing sun looking at pictures. This is just the unfortunate reality of this particular tour. All that said, I really enjoyed our guide, Niermen. She was very knowledgeable about Abu Simbel and every other place we asked her about. It was clear that she really enjoyed her job! She was well prepared for the day and able to answer all the questions we had. She had a great way of explaining things to us. Any negatives about the day/tour were outside of her control.

The tour guide: 1. asked for a copy of my passport via email the night before the trip; 2 was eager to sell more trips during the trip; 3. only did a short speech outside the temple along with photos and then sit outside waiting for us.

Really happy we chose this tour and guides. Correspondence before the tour was good and our pickup was smooth. Comfortable car and easy ride to Abu Simbel. In fact we were one of the first to arrive and saw much before other tours arrived. Makpol (Maggie) our guide was from Aswan and knew and shared a lot. She was well spoken and organised. Great and safe driving from Mohd Sharhaat. Totally recommend this tour, an early start but all worth it to step back in time with these monuments

We opted for the earliest start time, which ended up being a wise decision - not only to reach Abu Simbel before the temperature rocketed, but also to beat the crowds! Emad (our guide) and our driver picked us up at 4:30am, and we headed out into the desert to Abu Simbel for the 3 hour drive. Our hotel had given us a packed breakfast, but we were supplied with water by the tour guide. He also brought along an umbrella to use as a parasol if we needed to. Emad advised us that it would be best for him to cover the majority of the history of the temples in the car on the way, so that we could make a bee-line for the temple when we reached the site. There was wisdom in this, as we reached the temple about 20 minutes ahead of a convoy of tour buses, and were able to look around the temple with practically no other tourists around. If we had waited to have him cover the information until we reached the temple, it would have been both busier and hotter by the time we got inside. On the way back, Emad offered us a range of stop-offs for various popular souvenirs: spices, essences, cotton, etc. He wasn't pushy, and we got the sense that if we hadn't wanted to go, he would have happily taken us back to our hotel. Overall, a fab trip, definitely worth doing - as the history of the site (both ancient and modern) was fascinating. Would definitely recommend!

Samir was absolutely wonderful as a guide and traveling companion on our day tour to Abu Simbel from Aswan. He was genuinely sincere, incredibly knowledgeable and repeatedly went above and beyond to ensure we had a great trip. He also has a map that he uses for his tours that clearly outlines everything you can expect to see in these temples… this was an ingenious way of preparing us for our visit to the temples (especially since tour guides are not allowed inside once you get there)! He made great use of the time we had in the car (it’s a 3 hour drive from Aswan) to share a wealth of information and history - and we loved every minute of it! My wife and I have traveled extensively around the world and can honestly say that Samir is one of the best tour guides we have had. Thank you, Samir and thank you EMO Tours Egypt!

We recently did this tour in Aswan. I recommend buying a package to include all fees but no lunch. This is a private tour so you are able to move at your own pace and ask plenty of questions. They provide bottle water. The ride to Abu Simbel is 3.5 hours from Aswan. The guide, Samir, was knowledgeable, smart, and nice. He brought a map labeled with what to take a pictures of for each site at Abu Simbel. Also, he gave the guided tour inside the car and used photos to connect the dots between all the places in Egypt. We spent more time in cool car rather than standing in the heat getting descriptions. Please be mindful the guides make recommendations store where they receive commissions but you are not obligated to go or buy. Overall, I recommend doing this tour while in Aswan.
