Safe way to see the busy market !

My friend and I booked this tour on our second to last day In Egypt as we had not yet made it to the el Khalil market and couldn’t leave Egypt without going !! Ahmed and his driver met us at our hotel in Nasr City on time and drove us into Cairo to the markets , explaining sites along the way. He ensured our safety at the markets and let us taste some street food treats and take time to shop or take pictures. He brought us into a mosque and explained the culture and for a juice at the fish away cafe. We then had the best shawarma we ever had en route to the Nile boat ride which was fun. His driver returned us safely to our hotel at the end of the tour. Ahmed was great and I’m grateful we were able to see these places safely before leaving Egypt.

A brilliant night with Hussein

A brilliant night! Our tour guide, Hussein, was brilliant. Very informative and communicative and a good fun guy to be around. This trip is great value for money, you get the transport, the felucca boat ride and dinner all included. Would definitely recommend.

Wonderful city night tour... Packed with great experience.

Ahmed is great - as a first-timer to Egypt, my friend and I were extremely happy with the tour Ahmed took us to. His courteous manner and professional introduction of the city, the beautiful historic sites. buzzing market. Within 3.5 hrs, we experienced a lovely boat trip along the beautiful Nile, had the delicious traditional Egyptian wrap/sandwich, walked through the ancient market of 1000 years history, drank the mint tea and finished at the city wall (UNESCO site). They provided transport for the whole journey, from and to the hotel. We can't ask for more for our first evening in this ancient but also modern city buzzing with lives. If you are like us. first-timers and don't speak Arabic, you can assk Ahmed for the night city tour. It's absolutely brilliant!

Amazing evening tour!

This tour was incredible! Ahmed was an amazing guide who showed us so many interesting things. My husband and I felt safe and taken care of at all times and we learned so much from this tour. We tried some delicious street food, visited mosques, toured the markets, took a boat ride on the Nile and learned so much about the history of the area. I would highly recommend this tour.

Ahmed was an amazing tour...

Ahmed was an amazing tour guide and gave us a wonderful first taste of what Cairo has to offer. He made sure we were safe, comfortable, and most of all had fun learning ancient Egypt history. Ahmed is full of knowledge and we highly recommend a tour!!

Good

The host couldn’t find my hotel initially but we managed to meet at a place near the hotel eventually. I was the only person who signed up to the tour so it was a private tour We visited a few mosques and the shopping area then got some food and boarded a Feluca ( no longer the traditional sail but all with petrol motors, with a lot of petrol pollution and cigarettes smell and loud music, I don’t find it enjoyable at all but clearly the guide couldn’t control that)

Never happened but the host was great!

I can’t speak on behalf of the tour at all because it never happened. I was informed 2 hours before the event was suppose to take place that they no longer could provide the tour as they were concerned for our safety as tourists going to the market this day due to a celebration taking place in town. I respect the guide for making the call on it and for being professional about it. Because we are no longer going to be in Cairo the tour guide refunded our money. 10/10 a great person for making their best judgement call and for thinking of the customer over choosing the money and risking us not enjoying our time!

Some good points...but

Firstly I would say our guide (Ahmed) was very knowledgeable and personable. He was very conscious of ensuring our safety on the very busy streets. That said, we felt the trip tried to cover too much ground and it went on for a lot longer than we expected. Part of that was the Frday night traffic (don't do this on Friday if you can help it) and part was the distance between the various activities. The dinner experience was not great. We went to the best Kashari place in town but the portion was massive and I couldn't eat much of it. Ahmed couldn't help showing his displeasure and kept asking me to eat more. I felt very uncomfortable. Additionally so because there was only myself and husband eating, Ahmed just sat opposite us, waiting. The felucca trip was great! A definite must but it was a long way from the restaurant. The most uncomfortable part of the experience was at the end when. We gave our tip based our experience and Ahmed wanted more as he said he had paid for our drinks ($10 for 2 coffees) in the fishawy cafe, which he did as he told us earlier to let him pay as we would be ripped off, so we agreed. We had forgotten, but even so, we hadn't realised it was that much so we added to the tip but he still wasn't impressed. However, we went back to the fishawy on a Guruwalks tour the following day and paid for our own drinks, 2 coffees and a water, for less than $5. Obviously crossed wires somewhere. The market, fishawy and boat ride are all worth doing, just not all in the same tour and I would personally skip the meal.

Informative, value for money and a great night out

We were met at our hotel in Giza by Ahmed and our driver who were patiently waiting outside 10 minutes early (that never happens in Egypt!) The car was clean and comfortable. I was surprised to see that it was just my friend and I on the tour, I had expected it to be a group tour for this price. We were driven into Cairo with Ahmed explaining the sites along the way and happily answering our questions about the culture and religion and architecture of the region. He was so informative and patient. The market is beautiful and Ahmed explained things in an interactive way, quizzing us as we went along. He was happy for us to stop to take photos and browse the stalls. Often, tour guides can rush you but that wasn't the case on this tour which felt refreshing. We had a stop in the market for drinks which could be overwhelming for some but it was a fun medley of colour and sounds and smells and excitement. We then headed out for Koshery, a short drive away. Koshery is one of my favourites dishes ever and this was just exceptional. After another drive, we headed to the dock where we got on a "felucca" - they aren't actually feluccas (traditional sail boats) anymore since the government wanted to change all tourist boats in the region to new, safer options but it was still good to get out on the Nile. The music was very loud and there were a group of Saudi 'lads' who were singing and dancing and generally being rowdy so it wasn't exactly a relaxing journey but it was definitely fun nonetheless. A good experience, for sure. Ahmed's English is great and we understood everything although we did have a little laugh together about his pronunciation of Eiffel Tower (which sounded like evil tower) but luckily he has a good sense of humour and happily answered all of our many questions. I would definitely recommend this tour to others. It was myself and my best friend this time - I had visited previously in 2017 and spent a month exploring Egypt but even though I had been to these places before, I still learned new things from Ahmed this time around. My friend had never been before and was quite anxious but Ahmed put her at ease, too.
