De twee tempels van Abu Simbel worden met hun unieke stijl beschouwd als de meesterwerken van het oude Egypte. Ze weerspiegelen de glorie en grootsheid van het nieuwe koninkrijk. De Egyptische regering en UNESCO besloten samen te werken om deze tempels te redden van de overstroming. De Tempel van Ramses II was gewijd aan de vier universele goden Ptah, Re-Her-Akhtey, Amun-Re en aan Ramses II zelf. De grote tempel van Abu Simbel wordt ook wel de Zonnetempel van Ramses II genoemd. De tempel van koningin Nefertari wordt ook wel de Tempel van Hathor genoemd, die de vrouw was van de Zonnegod, dus op symbolische wijze zijn de twee tempels, die van Ramses II en die van Nefertari, breng Ramses II, Nefertari, Hathor en de Zonnegod samen als één. Breng daar ongeveer 3 uur door en neem dan de terugweg naar Aswan.

Mustafa was a FANTASTIC guide! He made sure we could sleep in a bit and leave "late" in the morning - like at 9:00am. Despite being "late", we managed to see Philae Temple - he was so helpful and kind as to add that tour to our day for a very nominal fee even though we hadn't signed up for it. He made sure we made it to Abu Simbel before it closed and when we did, we had the temples ALL TO OURSELVES!! It was a glorious experience at the temples and we were able to soak them in all on our own and also soak in the breathtaking sunset behind the temples. Of course, TONS of photo and video opportunities that I can't imagine any regular tourist going to Abu Simble to get.

Had the MOST INCREDIBLE DAY visiting Abu Simbel! We decided to hire a private driver, Tarek and our guide Muhammed from Emo Tours. They picked us up in a private car and we were able to sleep all the way across the desert to Abu Simbel. Our guide had special clearance to drop us near the ticket booth, cut to the front of the tour groups and then had a golf cart take us all the way to the temples. Muhammad’s detailed explanations of the temples and what to look for inside were excellent. We had ample time to see everything we wanted. Had a fantastic tour, all the same special arrangements back while all other visitors had to walk a long way uphill. And our driver Tarek kept us safe and comfortable. Highly recommend this experience.

Great day out and the tour guide was really knowledgeable. Contact prior to the trip and on the day was efficient. It was a private air conditioned vehicle and took just over 3 hours with a stop. Meal was also really good. The site was amazing. Only negative point was the persistence on the way back to book other trips and for us to write reviews immediately was over zealous and made us feel uncomfortable. Overall a great trip though.

We did the private car trip to Abu Simbel recently and it was very good. The guide we had at the temples was very nice (Tiger) and explained everything thoroughly and the driver we had (Mohammed) was excellent. The car was clean and comfortable, air conditioned, charging point for phones etc, he got us there quickly and safely and was very personable throughout. Very kind and friendly we felt very looked after. Highly recommend this company.

Abu Simbel is an amazing experience and needs to be seen in person. My driver Tarik was the best. Super low key, pleasant, and was always stepping up and taking care of anything I needed or wanted. Went out of his way to make my experience and the day the best. The guide Wallid (sp) was possibly the BEST guide I've had in Egypt. If you are lucky enough to have him consider your experience that much more.

Lack of communication from the tour supervisor. I didn't feel like we were taken care of. The second driver, on the way back, was using his phone a lot while driving and as a result his driving was unstable. Not happy.
