Day to remember forever
This trip was totally worth the 2am wake up. It was an amazing day and one we will never forget. The pick up from hotel and short flight to Cairo were well organised and very punctual. The tour guide Rapheat met us at the airport and immediately engaged everyone with general history of Egypt and culture in Egypt in present day and was a fountain of knowledge and looked after us throughout the trip. First stop was Pyramids which took our breath away seeing them in the distance as we were driving towards the site. A lot of work has been done to create a new visitor centre and a shuttle bus with stops around the site to get different view points up close and from a distance. Arriving so early in the morning meant it was quieter and the morning light gave us some incredible photos. We paid the the optional camel ride which takes you up on the hill for the best view of all 9 pyramids together. the museum visit in the afternoon gave us the opportunity to see the artifacts from inside the tombs and optional boat ride was a perfect way to chill and cool down before the flight back. We recommend you take a breakfast bag from your hotel and try and grab some food at airport before flight home as we didn't get back until 11pm but were all so happy we did the trip. Thank you Egypt!

Ein unvergesslicher Tag
Es hat alles sehr gut geklappt, von der Kommunikation vorab mit dem Reiseveranstalter, über die Abholung und der Transfer zum Flughafen. Der Flug war wieder Erwarten auch sehr angenehm. In Kairo wurden wir von unserem Guide Ahmed erwartet. Wir hätten es nicht besser treffen können. Er spricht sehr gutes Deutsch und hat eine Menge zu erzählen gewusst. Wir haben sehr viele tollen Eindrücke mit Ahmed erleben dürfen. Sogar beim Kauf unserer Souvenirs hat er uns beim Handeln geholfen. Schade war dass im alten ägyptischen Museum nicht mehr so viele Exponate waren und das neue erst in ein paar Wochen offiziell eröffnet wird. Wir haben dann als Gruppe noch eine schöne Nilfahrt gemacht und sind zum Anschluss über Teile des kilometerlangen Straßenmarkts gelaufen. Es war zwar wegen der frühen Anholung ein sehr langer Tag aber die Erlebnisse haben alles wieder wettgemacht.

Great experience
The trip itself was pretty great. The itinerary was well thought out. Transfers were pretty smooth, except we were the last on the list so it took a lot of time.
Our guide in Cairo was amazing, always explaining and giving us insights.
The only negative I would say that stopped me from giving 5/5 would be the “lunch buffet” which was very poor.

Bessere Organisation wäre wünschenswert!
Insgesamt war die Reise anstrengend, aber interessant. Leider gab es keine Sekunde Zeit, um auch nur ein einziges Souvenir zu kaufen oder sich alleine zu bewegen. Dann wurde mir erst nach der Ankunft in Kairo gesagt, dass es nicht zum Bazar geht. Angeblich wegen einer Sicherheitswarnung. Warum wurde ich darüber nicht vorher informiert? Dann wäre ich an einem anderen Tag nach Kairo geflogen!
Von 16.10-16.30 Uhr musste ich alleine vor dem Ägyptischen Museum warten, weil nicht klar war in welchem Auto ich weiter fahren konnte. In der Zeit konnte ich weder Souvenirs kaufen noch erneut ins Museum gehen. Die Anderen aus meiner Gruppe habe spontan einen früheren Flug um 17.30 Uhr zurück nach Hurghada genommen und schon mit dem Auto abgefahren.
Danach ging es auf mein Drängen hin in die Moschee El-Mina, obwohl mein Rückflug erst spät abends war. Angeblich warten die meisten Reisenden nach der kurzen Tour einfach Stunden am Flughafen ohne die anderen Punkte auf dem Programm zu machen.
Dazu waren wir nicht in der Kathedrale von Saint Shenouda und nicht auf dem Fischmarkt. Es war gut länger bei den Pyramiden zu sein, aber die Planung hätte besser sein können, weil am Abend noch viel Zeit war. Das Mittagessen und den Werbe-Besuch in dem Essenzladen hätte man sich sparen können. Die Nilfahrt war schön, aber kurz. Am Ende wurden wir in eine Mall gefahren, wo ich kein einziges Souvenir oder eine Postkarte kaufen konnte und es dieselben Geschäfte (Zara, H & M usw) gibt wie in Deutschland. Es ist schade, dass man keine Zeit bekommt, um sich alleine bei den Pyramiden, im Museum und woanders zu bewegen. Hätte ich gewusst, was mich erwartet, hätte ich die Reise woanders gebucht!

Mooie ervaringen rijker!
Goede trip gehad met de hoogtepunten van Caïro. Trip met mijn ouders, echtgenoot en zoon (8) gedaan. Tempo lag hoog bij de peramide complex / Egyptisch Museum daardoor voelde het soms gehaast. Wat mij betreft had ik liever meer tijd daar gehad en de parfum winkel en de papyrus niet in het programma gehad.
Ondanks boekingstijd van 06.00 uur werden we om 03.30 uur opgehaald. We waren om 22.15 uur weer terug in het hotel. Vervoer was prima geregeld op het afzetten bij de verkeerder terminal voor de terugvlucht na. Gids Fahmy weet veel te vertellen en is enthousiast!
Mocht je echt voor de cultuur gaan zou ik 2 dagen plannen. Maar wil je met (jonge) kinderen of zelf de hoogtepunten meemaken dat is dit een top trip! #dank aan de 5-5-2-2 crew; jullie waren fantastisch!

A brilliant excursion
Great day trip. Good and clear communication prior to the day. I have always wanted to see the pyramids, and they didn't disappoint.
Our tour guide, Ahmed, was brilliant, he had good local knowledge, as well as giving plenty of detail on the history of ancient egypt. He was enthusiastic and also funny.

Einfach gut
Ein toller Tag in Kairo. Wir wurden am Hotel Pünktlich abgeholt und zum Flughafen gebracht und das ganze mit Rollstuhl. Hat alles klasse geklapt Hin wie Rückflug. In Kairo hat uns unser Reiseführer am Flughafen in Empfang genommen und mit uns einen super Tag verbracht. Rundgang in der Altstadt und dann ins Museum, Mittagessen mit Blick auf die Pyramiden dannach dort hin und tolle Fotos gemacht. Zum Abschluss noch in ein Straßenkaffee auf unseren wunsch. Ein schöner Tag. Lieben Dank.

Amazing trip with lifetime memories - DO THIS TRIP!
Absolutely amazing day with our superb guide Fahme. Very early start but good pickup at 03:40 then a bit of a wait at the airport for a flight up to Cairo. Met Fahme at the terminal then off to the pyramids. His knowledge (and English and German) was great and he showed us the very best of the pyramids, including a lovely camel ride. Saw the Sphinx, had a lovely lunch of falafels (buffet choice) then an oils shop which was also interesting. After a brief visit to a Papyrus museum we went to the main museum in Cairo.. saw the death mask etc.. if I’m honest the museum wasn’t really for me but others loved it. We went for a trip on the Nile - I happened to mention that I had always wanted to go on a Felucca and Fahme duly obliged.. it was an amazing 45 mins or so.. then a walk through the old town and Souk and off to the Airport. Back in my hotel in Makadi at about 23:15 - tired but with memories forever. Huge thanks Fahme and the book tours team. Couldn’t rate high enough

Absolutely incredible
A very long but amazing day!
After receiving a message saying we'd be collected at 03:20 I almost cancelled, but I am so glad I didn't!
After we were collected we headed to the airport and given clear instructions. Once we landed in Cairo our guide was there to meet us.
Wed arrived a little earlier than expected so we were told traffic was better than usual as it normally takes around 90 minutes to get to the pyramids (just for those thinking of booking). I appreciated that it didn't take that long as we'd already had just over an hour on our transfer and then 75 minutes on the flight.
We explored the pyramids, the sphinx, and then headed to a couple of local shops. One selling perfume and the other selling paintings, both of which were beautiful.
After this it was time for lunch with views of the pyramids, then we visited the museum of Egypt and old Cairo. By the time we finished we were so tired, but so glad we did it.
My advice if you book this trip
- wear comfortable shoes!! There is A LOT of walking.
- take suncream (I made that mistake, but you can take it on the flight)
- Pack snacks. Its a long day
And finally - make sure you have an early night beforehand
