Bonjour,...

Not for snorkelling, maybe for divers, very commercial

Hi, unfortunately our experience has not been positive. This trip was all about the divers and snorkelling was secondary: nobody really made any effort to make snorkelling a good experience. I could see more interesting things in the hotel reef than here. It was all very chaotic as well staying for 2.5 hours on one small reef then doing only 20 minutes on the next. Everything revolves around what the divers do… Overall we were disappointed. I imagine it would be good if some of the boats would care only for snorkeling, but when together with divers it isn’t a real experience for snorkelling. They tried to persuade everyone to dive even without experience, then the whole boat ended up waiting several times for new extra rookie divers or divers who after diving decided to visit White Island just when everyone else got back. Overall it was very commercial with loads of boats and not much substance unfortunately, not to mention we arrived back only around 7pm to our hotel, and pickup was 7:40am for the 9 am departure. To elaborate a little further there is one guide for snorkelling and we all had to gather around him and couldn’t really go around much. We stopped first at a small reef and the guide was really just a security guard role: the reef wasn’t exciting, we didn’t see more then on a regular small reef on the shore and even that with a large group and restricted movement. The experience is titled snorkelling and there is that yes, you get to visit White Island too just at the same time as another 200 people do and you get to go around on a boat but that’s it. I would not recommend unless you are a very beginner who is happy with any little snorkelling and a boat ride around all day. Also nobody really spoke English it was hard to get orselves understood and there was nobody really taking charge: all the people on the boat only cared for their specific interests: diving instructors only for diving and they kind of seemed the bosses. Others only for taking pictures the captain was purely driving and the snorkel guides were just telling us as and when what to do. Never really had a day plan or any instructions on what to expect during the day, things just happened as and when. After spending a good 2.5 hours on the first reef everybody except a few divers were on the boat after about 40-60 minutes. Then we just waited there till like 2pm, nomlumch, then went to the next reef like 10 mins away. Then after 20 mins of snorkelling around a reef that seemed promising we were told to go back to the boat as ‘lunch is ready’. Nobody thought of serving it earlier when we were all bored waiting on the boat… that’s kind of it, don’t expect much: there are also like 100 boats out so hard to really make a difference I guess it has just become too commercial.

Snorkel trip to Ras Mohammad and White Island

Booked this back in the UK through Trip Advisor. The company we went with on the day was Egypta Tours. We paid approx. £23 each for the trip. Amazing value for money. Included transfer to and from hotel to the marina down at Ras Mohamed where all the boats go out from. Everything went to time with the company being in touch in the lead up to the trip confirming everything. When we got there we ended up on the biggest boat there called Engy Queen. There were approx 50 guests with us on the boat but due to its size there was loads of room on any of the 4 decks. They had a resident DJ on deck 2. He was spinning the wheel most of the day and had us all dancing on the return trip. The snorkelling was excellent and gear was included but we took our own gear. You also had the opportunity to try diving with the instructors. I didn’t fancy it but my daughter did and was 10 metres down before I could blink (no fear). Instructors were excellent and she was in safe hands. We had lunch after the 2nd snorkelling stop (again included). Buffet style and plenty of fresh salad, fish, meat etc to choose from. The last stop was White Island. We were taken there by the boats tender as it is too shallow for the Engy Queen to get close enough. Got some great photos being our own Robinson Crusoe! The day is full on and as I said was totally worth the money. We left the hotel at 8am and didn’t get back until 7pm that night. Totally knackered but buzzing from such an amazing day. Big shout out to the Engy Queen crew as they made the day super enjoyable, fun and safe.

Fantastic Day on the Engy Queen ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Fantastic Day on the Engy Queen ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had a fantastic day on board the Engy Queen and would highly recommend this trip to anyone visiting Sharm El Sheikh who loves getting out on the sea. The hotel pick-up was bang on time, and the mini bus was nice and small, so we didn’t have loads of other hotel pick-ups along the way. Getting through the marina was a little chaotic, but that was simply down to the sheer number of people heading out on the many boats. The yacht itself had a real luxury feel and there was plenty of space across the four different levels. The crew were absolutely amazing and, between them, spoke a wide range of languages, so communication was never an issue. We chose to go snorkelling and took our own equipment. The reefs we visited were incredible and absolutely teeming with fish of all different varieties. We had plenty of time to explore the reefs before enjoying lunch back on board, which was also really good. Our final stop was White Island, which was lovely to see, although it was extremely busy. The cruise back to port took a couple of hours, but it was a really nice, relaxed way to finish what had been a brilliant day. In summary, if you’re visiting Sharm El Sheikh and love being in the sea, this is a must-do trip. 🌊🐠☀️ Many thanks to the captain and the entire crew of the Engy Queen for a truly memorable day. We loved it! 👏

Long long day

Be warned it is a very long day 11 hours for us yesterday, and when you get to white island. Water is quite deep to swim out to the shallow water to get to island. My daughter could not do it. Food came at 2 in afternoon bit long after eating at 8 so would suggest take snacks. Food was limited to pasta. Snorkeling was amazing

Average, could be better

Good experience, nice guides. Only thing we would suggest is to advice people to bring few snacks as day is long and lunch time late. Also more info from guides as sometimes we were waiting for them to know where to go and wasted time. Second stop for diving and snorklling boring and not necessarily. So when booked this trip make the most of the time on the first stop which is the one where you can actually see some corals and fish.

Dommage.
