You need to go see the place, it's beautiful. The ride from aswan is about 3h30 to go and 3h30 to come back. You have about 1h30 at the place. The guide Abdul lets you go inside the temple alone (they are not aloud to come in), makes a brief explanation on the place for about 15 min and then takes a few pictures if you want. The visit is very quick, it's the car time that is long. You will wait at a boarder in the morning after your pickup for around 40 min and no one tells you why, you just wait. We found out after that the boarder opens at 5:00, so why did they come pick us up at 4:00 in the morning ? On the way back, we got a flat on one of the weels of the car, the drivers made it fast to replace it and were very professionnal.

Amazing Abu Simbel

It was a good tour.
Information such as the meeting time will be sent via WhatsApp the day before.
The bus to Abu Simbel was comfortable too.
After meeting the guide on site and listening to the explanation in English, you will have free time. I was able to see many tourist spots!

Go for the “transportation only” option
We had a nice time, but it was definitely not because of our tour guide. While the drivers were OK and the tempels were fantastic, our guide was of little use. He made us wait for 20 minutes at the entry for others who were joining our group and were late. That effected our experience greatly as we only had 2h to see everything. But what disappointed us the most was the lack of interesting details in guides presentation. He talked for about 10 minutes and did tell some interesting facts, but in the end we felt like we would like another 10-20 minutes of details. If we were to choose again, we would opt for the cheaper “only transportation” option (as all we heard could be very quickly learnt online), though it was only 5$ cheaper.

Amazing tour with Nice Tourd
Starting from booking and received the greetings email from Nice tour, they arranged everything in advance just to make sure we had a pleasant journey to Abu Simbel.
From a very smooth pick up service, a 4-hour drive from Aswan to Abu Simbel. Met another local tour guide Ahmed right at the ticket office which’s a smooth transition.
Picked up at 3:45, arrived Abu around 8:15am, spent nearly 2 hours there and return to the hotel at 2pm.
It’s really amazing and if you have time to visit Abu Simbel, we would highly recommend Nice Tours.
