Saqqara was even more impressive than Giza – an outstanding tour
This Saqqara tour was on a completely different level – an absolutely outstanding experience.
Our guide, Ahmed, was exceptional. His knowledge of Saqqara was incredible and really brought the site to life. I would strongly recommend anyone visiting Saqqara to try and tour with him, and honestly, if we ever get the chance to return to Cairo, we would definitely want to see if he could also guide us around the pyramids, as his understanding of ancient Egypt was outstanding.
What really surprised us was how impressive Saqqara was compared to Giza. While the Giza pyramids are iconic, the level of detail in the tombs and mastabas at Saqqara – the carvings, paintings, and scenes of daily life – felt even more impressive and immersive. The craftsmanship from thousands of years ago is unbelievable.
The day flowed really well. We started with a short introductory video about Saqqara, then visited the Imhotep Museum, which gave great context. After that, Ahmed took us through several mastabas and tombs, the Step Pyramid complex, and finally the Serapeum, which has a completely different level of mystery and atmosphere.
A quick note for future visitors: when you go down into tombs, some local staff may offer to “help” or point things out. They will expect a tip afterwards – which seems common in Egypt – so just be aware of that.
Hotel pickup and drop-off were smooth, and Ahmed was very flexible with the itinerary. Because we had a flight later in the afternoon, he advised us to skip the Dahshur pyramids and spend all our available time in Saqqara. This was absolutely the right call, as it allowed us to explore properly without rushing.
We bought our tickets at the site, and Ahmed helped us choose the inclusive option without unnecessary extras. This saved us money, especially as we were travelling with a 14-year-old. He was very honest about what was and wasn’t worth including given our time.
This was a thoroughly enjoyable day and easily the highlight of our time in Cairo. We couldn’t have been happier with the experience and highly recommend this tour, especially with Ahmed as your guide.

Amazing tour of Saqqara and the first pyramids
What an amazing experience. Our tour guide Ebrahim was unbelievable. He is so so good. Such wealth of knowledge. He is kind and listens and takes you to places that only a local expert can. Highly recommend him and this tour.

All-inclusive trip to Saqqara, Dahshur and Memphis.
The guide, Meera, was brilliant. Her knowledge was deep and her narration crystal clear. The insightful tour helped us get a solid perspective on ancient Egyptians and their ways of life (and afterlife).

Great history - Must see in Egypt
Very knowledgeable Guide. We had a great time I would suggest taking this trip, there is a lot to see in Saqqara and this gives you a good quick overview. Lots of interesting fancy’s about these Pyramids and their different stories.

Truly the best tour we’ve been on for this trip. Our guide, Niveen, was intelligent, interesting, and made the tour extra special. This tour includes some of my favorite things that i saw on this trip, a must do when traveling to Cairo. The driver was also amazing. Highly recommend.

Fantastic trip to Saqqara
We had a great trip to Saqqara. We were picked up promptly, excellent communication prior to pick up. Good driver - nice van, with air conditioning and pleasant, safe driver. Tour guide was excellent. Fantastic communicator, very friendly disposition and knowledgeable informative tour. She made the tour fun, interesting and very informative - wouldn’t hesitate to book another tour with her.
She also went out of her way to offer us some extra interest points to the tour and offered flexibility of options to add to the day.
Our meal was excellent, good quality and very tasty with good food choices available.
All in all a great day.

Great Tour and awesome guide
The tour is very interesting: lots of things to see and many places to visit. The guide explains everything and takes care of you in every step you take. Also driver is very skilled so you feel in good hands all the time. Definitely worth the price.
