I Colossi di Memnone sono due enormi statue di pietra situate sulla riva occidentale del fiume Nilo vicino alla città di Luxor in Egitto. Sono tutto ciò che resta di un più grande complesso di templi funerari costruito dal faraone Amenhotep III durante il XIV secolo a.C. (circa 1350-1334 a.C.). Le statue raffigurano Amenhotep III seduto sul trono e ciascuna statua è alta circa 18 metri (60 piedi) e pesa circa 700 tonnellate. Erano scolpiti in singoli blocchi di arenaria quarzite e originariamente collocati all'ingresso del tempio del faraone. Le statue furono create per custodire il tempio e per rappresentare il potere e l'autorità divina del faraone.

Today we went on an incredible excursion. Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable and explained everything with great passion and clarity. Definitely the best guide in the Luxor. Mena is a fantastic tour guide, he started off by explaining Egypt and its ancient customs, not just how but why history unfolded as it did. As we went past locations, he would point them out and explain more about them. At each location he looked after me well, he told me everything I needed to know and made a few recommendations when asked. Of all my guides, he has been an absolute star and if I have time in my trip, he’s the guide I’ll be going back too. If you are his wife reading, save his other knee, he’s been a good boy, we promise 😂

Half day tour with Mena Gamil as guide. Good communication in advance confirmed by WhatsApp. Arrived on time and took us by private car to the West Bank of the Nile. Felt safe in professional hands. Hassle free ticket purchase. Gave us as much time as we needed in the Valley of the Kings. Plenty of background history. Our guide Abdo and Driver Mohamed both were very kind snd polite gentlemen . Abdo was very knowledgeable and explained everything before entering every tomb . I wish he could have accompanied us inside each tomb then it would have been more interesting . Overall it was good experience.
