What you'll see

  1. Abu Simbel Temple
    Full day

As per requested time will pick you up from your hotel in Aswan and drive to the south of Aswan which is around 3hrs drive to enjoy Abu Simbel day tour from Aswan by air-conditioned vehicle. The two Temples of Abu Simbel, with their unique style, are considered to be the masterpieces of ancient Egypt. They reflect the glory and grandeur of the new Kingdom. The Egyptian government and UNESCO decided to co-operate in order to save these temples from the flood. The Temple of Ramses II was dedicated to the four universal gods Ptah, Re-Her-Akhtey, Amun-Re, and to Ramesses II himself. The great Abu Simbel temple is also called The Sun Temple of Ramses II.The Temple of Queen Nefertari is also Called Temple of Hathor who was the wife of the Sun God so in a symbolic way, the two Temples, that of Ramesses II and that of Nefertari, bring Ramesses II, Nefertari, Hathor and the Sun God together as one. Spend around 3 hours there then take the way back to Aswan.

Our guide Mustafa and driver Ishab arrived punctually. Ishab drove us very safely all day. English speaking Mustafa was friendly and could not have been more helpful. He has a university qualification in Egyptology, and gave us lots of fascinating information about the extraordinary temples and about ancient Egypt generally. He also kept us safe and dealt politely with any traders who were starting to get too pushy (most traders were fine). We were taken to a local restaurant which Mustafa recommended and had delicious local tilapia fish and Egyptian bread. We were fine afterwards as promised. The drive there and back took nearly 3 hours each way but we enjoyed seeing the desert scenery, so different from home. The only improvement would be to have seatbelts in the back of the car, something which seems to be missing in every car and taxi we’ve been in here so far. Recommended!

Day trip to Abu Simbel

Abu Simbel is amazing. Our guide was very thorough in explaining the history and content of both temples. It is a 3 hr drive from Aswan but we'll worth it. We had 2 good drivers who knew their way around. Highly recommend guide who spoke clear English and was most courteous.

Samile was a great guide

I chose an private driver & guide as i didn't want to be part of a big group. I chose to be picked up at 8am as I'd been advised that by the time we reached Abu Simbel the crowds of tourists would have already been and be on their way back. It was correct & I was able to enjoy both temples without crowds of other people there. Samile's expertise & knowledge were brilliant and he gave me a briefing on the way there so that i could just go straight into the temples & not waste time when I got there. The journey made it a long day but worth every minute of it.

Great guide to show us an outstanding site

Magda was a great guide - very personable and knowledgeable. He and the driver did everything they could to get us there as soon as possible (& very safely) to beat the crowds. The site of Abu Simbel is extremely impressive and well worth the long drive to get there.

Our day trip from Aswan...

Our day trip from Aswan to Luxor was an unforgettable experience, thanks to the breathtaking historical sites we visited. Luxor is truly a must-see destination, with incredible temples and ancient wonders that left us in awe. However, the organization of the trip left much to be desired. Communication with the tour agency was poor, making it difficult to get updates or clear instructions. The driver’s behavior was concerning—he frequently watched TikTok while driving, sped at 150 km/h, and never used his seat belt, which made the journey feel unsafe. Additionally, there was no water provided in the car, which was disappointing for such a long trip.

Great thanks to tour guide Magdy

Highly recommended! My tour guide is Magdy. He is very nice and professional speaking proficient English. He guided me to Abu Simbel Temples (and the Philae Temple, the Unfinished Obelisk and the High Dam as the adds-on) ! He explained to me and my son tirelessly throughout the day. An unforgettable experience and I am so grateful!

Excellent driver and car...

Excellent driver and car - perfectly air conditioned and very comfortable seats, which isn’t all that common in Egypt! Timing was flexible. We had a guide included which we don’t think added that much as the couldn’t enter the temples, but it didn’t cost too much more.

Private tour to Abu Simbell

Although a long way from Aswan the trip was perfect with a good driver Mahmoud. We had an excellent guide Magdy who told us what to see and the whole history of this famous site. Well worth the visit with a good amount of time to visit. Magdy took pictures of us at the tomb👍
