Whatever you are interested in, whether you like cooking, or eating, history or local culture this is something you should not miss.
Ahmed and Shorouk are the most amazing people, they are wonderful hosts who create an evening in Cairo that will never be forgotten. This was the highlight of our trip and this is so very much more than a "cooking class" Please go and spend an evening with Ahmed and Shorouk even if you usually dislike cooking. This is just fun in the kitchen and you may be surprised. I was not expecting to enjoy the "class" but this was a very relaxed insight into some traditional Egyptian recipes that we will be able to recreate at home.
Ahmed was available for any questions prior to our visit to their home. He was able to assist us in rearranging another tour and also monitored our Uber journey to ensure we arrived safely. All of this immediately made us feel as if we were visiting friends for dinner.
We were met by Ahmed in a busy part of Cairo and joined him in a Tuk tuk that took us through small streets that were difficult for cars. This was the beginning of our opportunity to see the "real " Cairo. Shorouk was waiting for us at their home and Ahmed explained that this family home, on 3 levels , was also home to their children's grandmother and that the house had been built for the extended family by Ahmed's grandfather and that the street had been named after him. We were shown the way that Ahmed's family, and others in the street were able to buy provisions from the local shop a few houses along by catching the shopkeeper's attention and then lowering a bucket from the window for the shopping.
Ahmed and Shorouk have 2 delightful girls who also played a part in helping us to understand Egyptian life. The younger girl was celebrating her birthday and we were privileged to share in this with cake and singing happy birthday in both English and Arabic.
The meal was absolutely fantastic. We ate the dishes we had all prepared and there were some additional food that Shorouk had previously made. Everything was delicious and plentiful. We learned so much about Egyptian family life, but also Ahmed and Shorouk are both very experienced and knowledgeable tour guides.
This family are unbelievably warm and friendly
and have the ability to put everyone at ease and welcome them as a part of their family.
This was much more than a five star experience!

Wonderful way to experience more of Cairo
Such a wonderful experience, which went beyond a typical cooking class to really share a family side of Cairo that felt true, loving, and complex.
From the first to last minute, we were welcomed and intrigued. The food was great and conversation stimulating; overall a great night, which is highly recommended.

Best over-the-meal conversation in my entire Egypt stay 🩷
Shorouk and Ahmed were amazing hosts! I had a great time at their home. We were joined by two other strangers-turned-friends that I wouldn't have met if not for this experience 🩷
My favorite part was the deep conversation about Egyptian way of life, customs, culture, aspirations, and struggles. We went beyond the customary introduction to the food and really delved deep into the what Egypt is at the moment and how its people persevere despite 🩷

Delicious and fun!!
GREAT time cooking and hanging with Ahmed and his family! The food was wonderful and we loved being in a traditional home. Ahmed and Shorouk’s 2 daughters are so sweet, it was truly a family experience. And we did NOT leave feeling hungry…!

The best family and hospitality.
This was one of the best authentic experience's in egypt. You’ll be hosted by an amazing family and they’ll show you everything about the egyptian culture and wonderful hospitality. We really learned a lot about cooking egyptian food and more.

A don’t miss opportunity!
Ahmed and Sharouk along with their delightful, multi-lingual daughters are fantastic hosts! They are warm, inviting, interesting and interested in their guests! This is an exceptional opportunity to visit real Egyptians in their home and learn how to make local dishes. You will want to take the whole family home with you and I feel I have made new friends for life!

Many unforgettable moments packed into one night
What a lovely warm-hearted family! They showed us how to make several Egyptian dishes and we also talked about the history of certain foods - like why there is pasta in koshari. I enjoyed the molokhia soup the most, it reminded me of a vegetable dish from Zimbabwe called derere...I gave koshari a second chance - it was better than the one in Abou Tarek. We also chatted about music and got to see some rare coins. An unforgettable experience, you must meet them all!

Amazing family experience in Cario
We loved getting to know more about how people live in Egypt, and Ahmed and Shorouk´s hospitality was outstanding. You will have an experience that is truly genuine and authentically Egyptian. We couldn't have asked for a better way to enjoy one of our evenings in Cairo! Thank you for this unique experience.

Delightful, a MUST do!
Ahmed, Shorouk, and their children are delightful, smart, and fun. They are open to being asked all questions which made the visit as culturally as gastronomically wonderful! The food was delicious and plentiful, and it was fun to cook together. This 5-star experience is a must! Do it early in your trip as it will set you up for a wonderful stay in Cairo.

One of the most authentic experiences!
It was lovely to meet the whole family of Ahmed and Shorouk.
We have learnt a lot about Egyptian food, customs and culture. Their hospitality went beyond and I will treasure the memories of meeting them forever!
