概要

A Day in Fayoum: Between Lakes, Villages, and the Desert Landscape
The journey took about 2.5 hours each way, so overall it was a fairly long itinerary, but the drive itself was very scenic. Along the way, we were treated to some local roadside coffee, and on the way back they kindly made a short stop to show us a pottery workshop I had wanted to visit. The tour was structured around visiting two spots, experiencing two activities, having lunch, and then returning. The first hill offered a nice view and felt like a good scenic spot. Although we did not participate this time, there is an optional off-road driving tour through the desert and around the lake available for an additional USD 40, where you switch to a 4WD vehicle. The second stop was a waterfall, which felt quite unique given its location in the desert. We were given an explanation of its history and formation, which helped provide some context and understanding of the area. The rowing boat experience (not a felucca with sails) offered pleasant views of the lake, though as an activity it felt like a fairly standard boat ride. Sandboarding was enjoyable and a nice way to experience the atmosphere of Fayoum. For lunch, there was a choice between fish or a mixed grill of beef and chicken. The meal was relatively generous, and the taste was simply good. Overall, to be honest, the experience felt slightly underwhelming considering the price. The lakes, the streets of Tunis village, and the everyday scenery of Fayoum that we passed along the way were truly beautiful, which made it feel a bit unfortunate to move through them so quickly. Given the limited time, I understand that there are inevitable limits to what can be done in a single day. Perhaps by choosing or incorporating more locally rooted experiences rather than standard tourist spots, the overall satisfaction could be even higher. This is purely my personal impression of the existing, pre-arranged tour. Lastly, I would like to mention that both the guide and the driver were very kind and attentive throughout the day. Thank you very much for a pleasant experience—I am truly grateful.

Assolutamente da fare
É stata un’esperienza fantastica! Il deserto con le sue mille scoperte ci ha regalato paesaggi mozzafiato cavalcando le dune con un 4x4 in stile Parigi Dakar (il driver super disponibile ci ha portato un posti dove gli altri non si sono fermati). La nostra guida Mario è stato molto gentile ed ottimo narratore, ci ha accompagnati per tutta la giornata rivelandosi anche un ottimo fotografo! Abbiamo visitato anche il villaggio di Tunis dove abbiamo mangiato al tramonto dell’ottimo cibo e acquistato le tipiche ceramiche. Grazie anche a Mohamed il nostro driver da Giza all’oasi!

Nice experience! El Fauyoum Oasis is a big area next to the lake, we passed by car. Boat waterfall and sandboarding was fun.

Best tour in Egypt
Essam is a very very honest and nice tour guide. He does everything to make your experience perfect. He never leaves you alone makes sure you’re not pestered by anyone when doing your activities. He handles all bills and excursions throughout the day without hassle. Truly worth every penny my wife and mother loved this trip.
