Mohammed fue nuestro guía. Fue un muy buen guia, amable y servicial. Sus conocimientos de egiptología eran apabullantes y se veía que realmente le apasionaba el tema. PERO. Nos quedamos sin ver el Valle de las Reinas. Había leído en otras reseñas que es común que los guías hagan por saltarse este destino en concreto y nos dijo que estaba cerrado y vimos que no era así (por reseñas, por noticias, por preguntar a otros guías) se lo hicimos saber pero no se pudo debatir mucho frente a un "It's closed"... Es su palabra frente a tu deducción y ellos manejan la situación. En su lugar nos estuvo queriendo llevar a tiendas donde es obvio que reciben una comisión. Fuimos a una de alabastros y rechazamos de forma más directa ir a otras dos. Me quedo con la pena de no llegar a conocer ese Valle a pesar de haber pagado por ello y espero que Viator pueda ayudarnos a compensar eso. Recomiendo ser muy asertivos con los guías (tratando de no tensar la situación) y rechazar de pleno cualquier parada en tiendas, talleres u otras opciones que te venden como "museo del alabastro, museo de papiro, museos de aceites egipcios, etc"

Had a great tour which was an eye-opener. The tour was made so much special by the incredible generous knowledge by our guide, Mr Mohsen. The car was comfortable and the pace of the tour was just nice. High recommended.

The tour started with the guide telling us how the Jews control the worlds economies and have hidden secrets about the sites we are visiting. Soooo, not a great start to the tour. The guide twice tried to pretend he didn't notice us at a site to avoid having to answer our questions. He several times complained we were going too slow and pushed us to skip several things. We eventually agreed to remove one site from the itinerary (Karnak), as well as told him he didn't need to come into Luxor with us, just drop us off there. That was fine with us as we were sick of him at that point. We finished the tour in under 8 hours which is how long its supposed to last. Even though the tour says that the entry fees are covered the guide insisted they aren't and refused to pay. So we paid our own entry fees because we are there, its not like we aren't going to go inside! When I complained to the tour operator later he did apologize and brought me cash to compensate me for those entry fees I had to pay. The large amount of cash was a little inconvenient as we only had ~12 hours left in town but it was better than nothing. The tour guide made an unscheduled stop at a pretty crappy alabaster stone shop that had comically high prices. This was definitely a scam that the guide was a part of, and it was not appreciated at all once we realized what was going on. The lunch was mediocre but the view at the restaurant was great. I have no idea how much of the tour money went to the lunch but it felt like it was worth it. Late in the day I watched the guide buy drugs off someone at the temple of Hatshepsut and do some of them in the car. So that's nice. When we later got in the car after visiting the temple we nonchalantly asked him what the drug scene was like in Egypt and he *very* enthusiastically told us all about it. This may be a plus depending on what you are looking for. The driver for all of this was a fine dude, no complaints with him.

Recomiendo encarecidamente este tour. Josef era muy agradable y muy informativo y vi todo lo que quería ver en Luxor. Esto es ideal si quieres verlo todo en un día.

My tour guide Hosney was terrific. He patiently waited for me at the Luxor airport when my flight got delayed. Hosney is a seasoned tour guide who has a lot of passion for Egyptology. He took me to a great local restaurant and had the manager prepare an off the menu dish. He seemed well respected in Luxor as every few minutes someone would stop him and greet him warmly. Ask for Hosney!
