You won’t find a better local experience or better people than Ahmed and Shorouk. They are kind, authentic and wonderful as hosts. Sharing openly about about their lives and the city. Bringing together delish food and warm conversation their home in a residential part of Cairo is a part of the history of the city itself. Best experience while I was there.

Ahmed and Shorouk made me feel like family in Cairo. I spent my birthday tasting the delicious flavors of Egypt through their cooking and stories. This family transformed the way I saw the country and its people. This is the way to experience Cairo, you will leave your heart and stomach full.

It was like I had a cousin in Egypt who welcomed me in for dinner! I truly enjoyed the meal and the company. The family was incredibly welcoming, making me feel comfortable very quickly. I don't speak Arabic, but their English is great. We talked for hours. If you like an off-the-beaten-path, inside look at living in Egypt, this is a must do! I will absolutely do this again when I return to Cairo.

Nous avons été accueilli très chaleureusement par Ahmed, Shorouk et les 2 charmantes filles pour un véritable dîner en famille. Cette expérience a permis non seulement de goûter aux spécialités égyptiennes mais surtout d’échanger et de partager un moment privilégié avec une famille égyptienne. Nous recommandons vivement.

We were able to see how was prepared part of the meal, the food was great!! And to eat with the family was fun too. We also exchanged cultural customs and learned some Arabic. Great experience !!

This experience was a highlight of our trip to Egypt! Shorouk and Ahmed welcomed us into their home and it felt like we were among old friends. The food, the conversations, the insights into what it is like living in Cairo, the lesson in how to make proper Turkish coffee were all experiences that we will cherish forever. We left feeling like we had an Egyptian family. This is an absolute must while in Cairo! You will not regret your evening spent with this lovely family and you will leave with friends/family for life.

Meeting Ahmad and his wife was the best part of our Cairo adventure. It is just so rare to meet and connect with locas in a relaxing atmosphere and talk about pretty much anything.

Tuve la gran oportunidad de participar con esta presiosa familia en su casa en El Cairo, donde me atendieron como si me hubiesen conocido desde años, me enseñaron a preparar café turco, me explicaron el significado de las señales sonoras en época de Ramadán y la experiencia de comer como tradicionalmente ellos hacen en el piso fue algo sensacional y para sus simpaticas hijas en ese corto pero tan entretenido tiempo yo fui como una tia que las estaba visitando desde el fin del mundo, desde Chile. Una cosa es ir a El Cairo y mirar todo como en una vitrina, pero otra cosa es entrar a una casa (palacio le dicen ellos) y deslizarse por sus habitaciones, por sus emociones y por sus sueños. De mi visita a El Cairo es lo que más me emociona cuando la recuerdo, porque realmente esa visita a cenar con esta familia local tuvo un significado para mi.

One of the best experiences I did while visiting Egypt. The hosts were great very welcoming and warm family their two young daughters made the cooking class very fun as well. Must try!
