A delightful experience in a warm and full of confort food surrounded by a real experience of cooking and living in Cairo. Als ich während eines 4 wöchigen Sprachkurses in Kairo nach einer Möglichkeit gesucht habe unter die Leute zu kommen, habe ich das Angebot gesehen bei einer ägyptischen Familie zu Abend zu essen. Ich habe zwar schon mit AirBnB in einer ägyptischen Wohnung gewohnt, aber ein Teil des ägyptischen Familienlebens mitzubekommen, und mein arabisch ein wenig auszuprobieren, war sehr verlockend. Nachdem ich gebucht habe, hat Ahmed mir sofort geantwortet und hat die Anfahrt zur Wohnung mit mir zusammen organisiert. Eine Adresse in Kairo zu finden ist manchmal nicht so einfach. Auch als ich mit dem Taxi angekommen bin, standen wir weiter in Kontakt per Handy, und so konnte ich die Wohnung schnell und sicher finden. Angekommen fühlte ich mich gleich angenommen in der Familie. Es war keine künstliche Vorstellung, sondern ein normaler Abend bei einer Familie mit den beiden kleinen Töchtern. Wir haben uns viel unterhalten auf Englisch , da mein Arabisch leider noch nicht ausgereicht hat. Die Kommunikation war sehr angenehm und die beiden Töchter offen und interessiert. Es war ein sehr schöner Abend, menschlich wie auch sehr interessant die Probleme des Alltags in Ägypten zu erfahren. Vor allem lernt man den Teil des Landes kennen, der nicht mit der touristischen Industrie und ihren eventuellen besonderen Schwierigkeiten verbunden ist, sondern die Offenheit und Freundlichkeit der normalen Ägypter. Shuruq und Ahmed sind sehr offenen, liebenswerte Menschen mit den ich auch immer noch in Kontakt bin. Ich kann dieses Angebot bei einer ägyptischen Familie nur empfehlen als Kontrast oder schöne Ergänzung, was die im Schnelldurchgang durchgezogenen touristischen Programme angeht, die normalerweise viel mit alter Geschichte zu tun haben, aber leider den Kontakt zu den Menschen nicht im Programm haben. Ahmed und Shoruq - ich wünsche Euch alles Liebe und Gute - ich hoffe wir sehen uns mal wieder Inshallah.

Having dinner with Ahmed & Shorouk and their 2 sweet daughters was one of the highlights of my trip to Egypt. I really felt immersed in the Egyptian culture and highly recommend activity!!!

This was a great experience. We did all of the regular tourist spots in Cairo, but here we got to see how real Egyptians live. The food was really good and Ahmed and family were great! Highly recommend.

Egipto no solo son pirámides y templos, hay mucha gente agradable en este país. Esta fue sin duda una experiencia que no olvidaré, Ahmed y su familia me han acogido como si yo fuera parte de ella, gente muy agradable, sonriente y con tantas historias que contar. La verdad es gente muy linda y abierta a conocer otras culturas. La comida fué deliciosa y el proceso de preparación muy interesante. Había mucha comida para probar y todo era realmente rico. La comida casera es la mejor simplemente.

This experience is the one of the best memories from my trip to Egypt. Not only are Shorouk, Ahmed, and their children delightful to be around, but the food was extremely delicious. They made me feel right at home with nice conversation during my visit with them. The different dishes placed on the table were explained to me, and I even got to peak into the kitchen while the cooking was in process. This is a "must do" for anyone spending time in Cairo; don't miss it! I feel like I now have family in Egypt.
