Overview

After visiting the Pyramids of Giza, visit the Great Sphinx, by far the largest surviving sphinx. It consists of a human head on the body of a lion. The Sphinx was carved from the remains of a limestone hill that served as a quarry for the Great Pyramid of Cheops. Felucca cruise on the Nile is available for a fee.

What you'll see

  1. Hurghada

Around 4am you will be picked up from your hotel. Upon arrival in Cairo, you will be met by your guide who will accompany you throughout the tour.

  2. The Egyptian Museum in Cairo
    2 hours, 20 minutes

Meet your Egyptology tour guide at the museum to begin your day. Visit the state-of-the-art Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), the world's largest archaeological museum with over 100,000 artifacts, or the Ancient Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square. Select your preferred museum during the booking process.

  3. Grand Egyptian Museum

The further course of the excursion takes you to the great pyramids of Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinus. The tour of the pyramids ends at the Sphinx and the temple surrounding it. At the end of the day, if time permits, you will have the opportunity to go shopping before embarking on the return journey to Hurghada.

  5. Khan Al-Khalili Bazaar
    1 hour

If the return flight from Cairo is late in the evening, we will spend some time visiting the London of the Middle Ages (Khan el Klalili market), Old Cairo, recently added to the UNESCO World Heritage list, or Cairo Festival City, an extra-large shopping mall (air-conditioned), one of the largest in the Middle East. These two attractions will familiarize you with the ancient Egyptian techniques of making papyrus and essences. These two interesting visits will increase your knowledge of daily life in ancient Egypt and will also be helpful to the Egyptian farmers who work in these sectors and preserve these very old handicrafts from ancient Egypt. (These visits depend on the time remaining.)

Pyramids, museum and Nile cruise is just awesome.

Mr Fahmy was amazing he explained everything clearly and kept everybody engaged all day, he is very knowledgeable. He is a credit to the team and should get a pay rise. He made our day fantastic as I was celebrating my birthday. The tour is fantastic I would recommend this 100% and if you get mr Fahmy you are in for an awesome day. The pyramids are just breath taking you hear a lot of people say about the rubbish but I have to say there was none it was very clean. The museum was massive and so impressive. The trip on the Nile was also fantastic.

What an amazing trip, the pyramids were incredible. The new museum is modern such a great venue. We did the camel ride for the better pyramid views, got some great photos thanks to our camel herder. Seeing the sphinx up close was cool. Driving in Cairo seems like anarchy the only rule being drive in the same direction thankfully our Hollywood driver was able to keep us safe throughout. We finished with the Nile trip, cooler at night but seeing the city lit up was worth it. Our guide Mr Fahmy was knowledgeable and attentive to the group he organised fresh falafel for lunch which were amazing, his itinerary and route kept us away from the bulk of street hawkers ensuring a hassle free trip. Mr Fahmy was on hand taking photos throughout making some fun and unforgettable moments on the trip. The only downsides was the buffet food in the restaurant, the food was beautiful just cold. The day is fantastic but think in hindsight It would have been better to stay the night in Cairo and do over 2 days. We went on the Saturday so it was quieter but it was Ramadam so the ride to the boat was something else. I would recommend this trip, it included our flights to and from Cairo all entrance fees, water, falafel and food at the restaurant - we paid for the camels and boat road £10 per person but these are optional - but its such good value and a great experience and if you can ask for Mr Fahmy as your guide.

Great tour

Very long day but well worth it. Mr Fahmy was our guide and was very knowledgeable and excellent with the children in the group. Visit to the GEM was amazing with so much to see that 2 hours was no where near long enough. No stopping at tourist trap shops so no time was wasted on this well organised tour.

Best excursion

The organization was very good, as was the tour guide. There was a lot of information about Cairo and the sights in perfect German. Definitely got bored.

Wow – what an incredible, action-packed day from start to finish!

Wow – what an incredible, action-packed day from start to finish! We were collected from our hotel at 2:10am and transferred smoothly to Hurghada airport. The flight was just one hour, and on arrival in Cairo we were warmly welcomed by our guide, Mr Fahmy, and our driver, Mohammad. Mr Fahmy truly made our day unforgettable — especially for our 14-year-old autistic son, who is a part-time wheelchair user. He showed such genuine care, patience and inclusion, making sure our son was involved in conversations and felt comfortable throughout. He went above and beyond to ensure we all felt safe, relaxed and happy. His knowledge and passion for Cairo, the Pyramids and the Grand Egyptian Museum were outstanding. He brought everything to life with fascinating facts and stories. A special touch was when he treated us to falafel from his favourite local takeaway — such a thoughtful and authentic experience! It was a long 22-hour day, but with the well-planned stops, refreshments, breathtaking sights and engaging education, it honestly flew by. This was a truly special adventure for our family and we have made memories that will last a lifetime. Thank you, Mr Fahmy, for your hospitality, kindness and warmth — we will never forget this experience.

Thanks to Fahmy - our fantastic guide

Amazing day with fantastic guide, Fahmy. We were shown around the awesome pyramids at Giza, the fabulous new museum and ended the day seeing the night time view of Cairo from a cruise on the Nile. No stops at tourist trap shops. If you’re half thinking should I do this trip, I’d definitely say go for it. A truly memorable, fantastic day. We did the trip on our second full day of holiday and were glad to have rest of holiday to relax after.

Book it! Amazing!

Had great communication from the company in the days leading up to the trip. We had Ahmed as our tour guide, he was brilliant and very knowledgeable. He met us at Cairo airport and took us to the Nile for a cruise, followed by the pyramids (including going inside one of the smaller ones) we then went to the sphinx followed by a buffet lunch. Afterwards we went to the Grand Egyptian museum (to be honest this place is huge and you could easily spend all day here) Ahmed took us to the most important bits (we would have struggled to know where to go otherwise) then left us to have an explore and met us back outside at the agreed time. Felt very safe with him (which was very important as we had our two children with us) and learnt a lot. We would definitely recommend.
