Limited guide, dangerous drive, unfulfilled promises

Our guide was either unable or disinclined to share much information. He carried a book to which he referred at times, but seemed generally lacking in knowledge about Egypt and Alexandria except for a few visited sites. The guide’s spoken English was difficult for us to understand. Whereas the tour was advertised to include on-board wi-fi, snacks, en-route interpretation, etc, these things were missing. Most serious, the driver drove dangerously in a small Kia automobile, exceeded posted speed limits (up to 200 km/h on roads posted at 100 km/h), bullied his way through dense traffic miraculously avoiding collisions numerous times, and boasted of his ability to manage through the overcrowded streets. The lunch stop was in a scenic restaurant overlooking the Mediterranean, the food was good but the service was poor. While we were pleased to see important sites (catacombs, Pompey’s pillar, the citadel, the grand new library of Alexandria, etc), mostly we were relieved and pleased to return to our hotel alive.

Great day in Alexandria

If you come to Egypt you can never forget to visit Alexandria. This mediterranean city holds a lot of culture sights from Alexander the Great time until nowadays and ,as always, presents the very good Egyptian hospitality. Both tour guide Mahmoud El Wakeel and driver Sayed Atria were very nice and friendly. Sights explanation was perfect and very detailed. The transport conditions were also amazing. Went to the best places to visit in this clash of Egyptian and Roman/Greek cultures. Lunch was fish in a restaurant close to the sea. Finished the day with a visit to the emblematic Alexandrian Libraby. On my opinion it's a tour you must do when in Egypt.

Mahdy from Emo tours was great

Mahdy from Emo tours provided us with an amazing visit to Alexandria. Ahmed can drive through anything. They were both very professional. We were never rushed. Mahdy is very knowledgeable. We were taken to parts of Alexandria that I know we would not have seen without him. I would recommend them both to anyone looking to visit Alexandria.

Wonderful Alexandria Day Tour with Mahmoud

Had an absolutely wonderful day tour to Alexandria with Mahmoud El Wakeel. The Alexandria Library is simply awesome! Mahmoud is a joy, super friendly and very accommodating to our need. For example, he allow us to spend as much time as we like in all the stops, make minor changes to our lunch menu, etc. Also, would like to thank Ahmed Ragab for his politeness and safe driving. Our guides made this trip a special day to remember.

Explore Alexandria in one day

You will learn a lot and see the major sights. Skip the papyrus store and ask instead to prolong your visit to the Library - if you like modern art. The huge library building and grounds are filled with wonderful modern sculptures, and the day we visited we also saw galleries filled with prints, ceramics and even ceramic landscapes. Our guide was Mohamed Salama, who is super knowledgeable about ancient Egypt, hieroglyphics and history. He also knew where to take us for a quick local lunch.

Alexandria Day Trip

My family and I had an amazing time in Alexandria - we took a day trip from Cairo which was about a 2 hour drive in a van with plenty of space. Our guide Ola was an exceptionally great tour guide with us - she was very informative for all the sites which was essential as we knew nothing about Alexandria. She made sure to cover a lot of things and was very timely for activities like our guided tour at the Alexandria Library. She was very patient with all of our asks and needs during this day trip and made sure we got back to our hotel in Cairo safely. Alexandria was overall beautiful and I would highly recommend a day trip to anyone visiting Cairo! Enjoy some ice cream by the Mediterranean Sea and have a good time!
