TIENES QUE LEER ESTO he vivido en EGIPTO. Hablo árabe: NUNCA VAYÁIS CON HOSAM HUSSEIN. ESTAFA. EL PEOR TOUR DE MI VIDA.

SI VAS A RESERVAR ESTE TOUR, TE CONVIENE REVISAR ESTE COMENTARIO (soy español que ha vivido 1 año y medio en Egipto y hablo árabe): Nefasto!! a todas luces! He estado 3 veces en Egipto (trabajando un año y medio en la embajada -me defiendo bien en árabe...algo que no le dije a mi guía y me enteré de todo lo que decía...- y luego 2 veces como turista), he hecho multitud de tours y este que me tocó es sin duda el peor de todos los que he hecho no tan solo en Egipto si no por todo el mundo. Mi guía fue Hosam Hussein, cuyo teléfono es 0111 842 6761. Tenedlo en cuenta y evitarlo. En principio entraban aguas en todo el viaje, cosa que nunca ofreció. Y cuando se la pedí, me dijo 30 L.E. (menos mal que yo llevaba 2 litros en mi mochila). 1. El guía no se personó a buscarnos. Pasados 50 minutos de la hora de recogida del tour (8:00) no había llegado nadie. Llamé a la agencia que aparece en la reserva y me dijeron que "ahora llega". Total, a las 9.00 llegó un chico en un coche que sólo hablaba árabe. 2. Al cabo de pocos minutos, subidos en el coche, le llama el guía y resulta que antes de ir a Saqqara pasamos a buscarle a él...las 9:30 (1:30 horas más tarde de la fecha acordada). Viene con aires de grandeza y chulería. Lo primero que dice es que él no tiene dinero para las entradas a Saqqara, Darshur, etc....y nos pregunta si nosotros lo teníamos. Le digo que no, que esto estaba incluido en el precio. Entonces, le dice a su compañero que vayamos a la agencia y por el camino le dice en árabe (Vamos a conseguir dinero de estos chicos). Como lo entendí bien, le pregunté disimulando a Housan "A dónde vamos?" y él me dijo: a la agencia a buscar los tickets. Total, que nos mete en medio de Giza, en una callejuela perdida...vamos a la agencia, allí no hablan inglés. Le dan dinero a Housan y son las 10:40 cuando partimos para Saqqara. Por el camino, ni un "lo siento", "disculpad", nada de nada. Solo le repite a su compañero chofer "Vamos a llevarles a desayunar y les sacamos 15€ a cada uno". Yo, haciéndome el tonto...pero apuntando. 3. Nos presentamos en Saqqara y la explicación es de PENA: nos cuenta lo que lee en la lonely planet o en wikipedia, nada más. Es algo que yo ya sabía que sucedía y se lo intenté explicar a mi pareja, pero ella se encaprichó en querer ir con guía (era su primera vez en Egipto) porque se pensaba que eran egiptólogos y yo explicándole que no lo son, que son personas cualquieras que se han leído una National Geographic y a correr. Durante la visita a Saqqara le pregunto a Hosan cómo ha aprendido castellano y nos dice -ni corto ni perezoso- "porque soy Filólogo hispano". Cuando mi pareja le dice "anda, yo también"..le preguntamos en qué universidad y en qué se especializó....se calló y no siguió hablando. Cogió el móvil, hizo como si le llamaban (recordad, hablo y entiendo el árabe) y se fue disimulando mientras señalaba con un dedo una ruina de Saqqara como indicándonos que viéramos algo. Se lo hice ver a mi pareja "¿Ves?, es un mangante...y ya está". 4. Durante todo el trayecto en Saqqara, la explicación no duró más de 30 segundos. Todo lo demás "Tiempo libre para vosotros". Eso sí, donde dedicó más de 10 minutos en varios intentos fue en intentar convencerme de que fuésemos a tomar un "clásico" desayuno egipcio por 15€ por persona. Como me sabía que lo iban a decir, preparé una respuesta y le dije que no porque estábamos mal de la barriga y que yo ya había vivido en Egipto y sabía que un "clásico" desayuno egipcio no vale más de 100 L.E. (2-3 euros). Me repitió varias veces y de malas maneras "es que yo tengo hambre...", "cómo no vamos a ir...habrá que desayunar, ¿no?"..."pero hombre...no querrás dejar a tu pareja sin desayunar..." (diciéndole yo que ya habíamos desayunado en el hotel)...y así siguió todo el trayecto. MUY MUY PESADO. 5. Llegamos a DARSHUR. Explicación 0 o menos 1000. 1 minuto explicando lo obvio sobre Egipto (civilización muy antigua...muchos años...muchos faraones) y ya está. REDUCIDO A ESO. NADA MÁS. De nuevo, miro a mi pareja y le digo "ves?", ahora ya empieza a verlo claro. Hosan me dice de pararnos en un amigo suyo que tiene alfombras "chulísimas" y otro que tiene una joyería con precios "especiales". Me pongo serio y le digo que no, que solo y exclusivamente queremos que nos lleve a lo que entra en el tour y sin ninguna parada intermedia ni amigo, ni tienda ni nada (hay que explicitar, si no, te siguen proponiendo). Me vuelve a repetir lo del desayuno, ahora diciéndome "es que el chofer también tiene hambre y por 15€ por persona tenéis un desayuno típico muy bueno" y yo, de nuevo, "que no" (Hosan, insisto, desconoce que yo puedo ser más pesado que él, que hablo árabe y que he vivido allí...trabajando. De hecho, hablamos en el coche de política del país y creo que ahí se da cuenta de que algo del país conozco...de manera diferencial a otros turistas). Sin embargo, sigue diciéndole a su compañero el chofer que "¿Qué le puedo ofrecer para que compre?" a lo que añade un par de comentarios sobre mi novia que no entendí bien pero que eran algo similar a "si estuviera sola...(y no entiendo lo que dice)" y "tiene un culo...(y no entendí, de nuevo, lo que seguía). A la luz de esto, le corté la conversación con tono borde para preguntarle cuánto tardaríamos hasta Darshur y cambiarle el tema. Pero yo, apuntando. Tengo de hecho un audio de esta conversación donde se le oye. 6. Llegamos a Darshur (pirámide Roja y Acodada) y su manera de hacer de “guía” fue: tenéis 30 minutos libres (eran las 12:00 y en principio la visita contratada era de 8.00 a 14:00…teniendo en cuenta que cuando empezamos realmente eran las 10:30, imaginaros la cara dura…). ¡Y una leche! Estuvimos 1 hora y media o 2 horas entre ambas pirámides. 0 explicación en cada una. Cuando digo 0, es 0. Se quedó en el coche con el móvil hablando con su colega y mientras bajamos del mismo para empezar a visitar la Pirámide Roja nos dijo “hombre..es que no queréis comer…es que ya os vale…habría que ir a hacer el desayuno tradicional egipcio”. Ya ni respondí…me fui riendo a visitar por mi cuenta el yacimiento. En la acodada, tres cuartas partes de lo mismo: 0 explicación, más insistencia en el desayuno o visitar alguna otra cosa. 7. Ya de vuelta al coche a las 13:30, ni corto ni perezoso me suelta “bueno, ahora habría que hablar de la propina”. A todo esto, el tío le dice al chofer que vaya primero a dejarle a él y luego a nosotros. Por el camino siguió insistiendo en la comida (ya era hora de comer) tradicional egipcia. Y cuando estamos llegando a dejarlo a él (ya las 14:30, nosotros teníamos otro plan luego y por culpa de no dejarnos a nosotros, lo cual hubiera sido lo más profesional, se fue él el primero) va y nos dice: bueno, ¿cuánto me vais a dar de propina? Le dije que “Nada, gracias”. Y aquí viene lo fuerte, va y me suelta: “Hombre, me tenéis que dar algo de propina por el trabajo bien hecho.” Y aquí, poco menos que tuve que aguantarme y ser educado, pero…después de escuchar en árabe como se reía de nosotros, nos quería sacar pasta, cómo hablaba de mi pareja en términos sexuales, de querer insistir hasta ser pesado en el desayuno, la comida, las joyas, las alfombras, no explicar nada o casi nada en los yacimientos, no ofrecer el agua que estaba incluida, intentar que pagásemos nosotros las entradas a los yacimientos, empezar el tour 2 horas y media más tarde de lo acordado, pretender finalizarlo antes y exigir -literalmente- la propina, tuve que ponerme serio y decirle “Después de la mañana que nos has dado y cómo te has comportado, lo siento pero entenderás que no ha sido el mejor tour”. Total, que se indigna, se gira desde el asiento del copiloto y me dice “pues es que tenéis que dármela, es la tradición”...se pasó 1 minuto insistiendo, intentando que pasara por el aro y le tuve que responder “la tradición es hacer el trabajo bien, algo que sabes que no has hecho”. El chofer no tuvo culpa de nada y en ningún momento le escuché decir nada malo ni soez sobre mi o mi pareja. Solo se dedicó a llevarnos y ya está. HOSAN fue un ESTAFADOR en toda regla. Además de maleducado y violento. Total, voy a reclamar el dinero (PORQUE ES UNA PASTA) a la agencia y os recomiendo lo que le recomendé a mi chica y que luego me reconoció que hubiese sido lo mejor: apalabrad con un taxi un precio para todo el día y que os lleve a los lugares. Una vez allí podéis leer la Lonely Planet donde encontraréis mucha más info que lo que os diga el supuesto guía (no son egiptólogos, recordadlo) o algo mejor y gratuito: WIKIPEDIA. Mucho más contenido, actualizado, bien ordenado, con mapas y explicaciones concisas. En su defecto, podéis intentar montarlo con un UBER. El coste del transporte hecho así junto con las entradas os puede salir, para dos personas, un máximo de 25-30 euros y no los 90 que pagamos nosotros.

So many pyramids...

It was a lovely day out seeing and going into pyramids we had not visited before. Abo and his driver were a good team and both were very capable and knowledgeable. We had lovely Egyptian mixed grill lunch with fresh flatbreads, salad and vegetables.

Overall a brilliant experience

A brilliant opportunity to visit the Saqqara pyramids, Memphis complex and Dashur pyramids. Having the chance to enter 2 of the pyramids was incredible. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave plenty of history that helped bring the landmarks to life. Tried to sell a visit to a carpet shop at the end of the trip to try and get me to buy things I didn’t need. But the overall experience was great and highly recommend.

A great trip to do before doing the pyramids at Giza

This was an excellent way to fill a few spare hours in Cairo while waiting to connect with our tour group. We were due to visit the Giza pyramids the following day, and wanted to see some of the earlier pyramids beforehand. We were picked up promptly from our hotel and driven around to the three locations. Our guide gave us lots of information about the sites, but also gave us time to look around by ourselves without rushing us. The pyramids and Memphis were all very interesting to see, and it was possible to go inside some of them. There were some great tomb illustrations to look at which our guide explained very well. We chose the option which included lunch, and at the end were taken to a restaurant and given a very good cooked lunch (drinks extra), which was excellent value. The guide was great, and well deserved a decent tip at the end. This trip was great value and would thoroughly recommend.

Ola was wonderful. Great English, very knowledgeable and accomodating. She was able to let us see a number of the sites and moved the tour along.

A great Sakkara, Memphis and Dahshur trip

The Dahshur Pyramids were very exciting, Memphis charming and the Step Pyramid at Sakkara awe inspiring. Our guide, Ahmed, was marvellous and he explained some of the tombs with their painted scrnes of everyday life very well.

Excellent half day trip

We arrived late in the morning in Cairo and were looking to do a tour the same day. This half-day tour was perfect for our schedule. Nader was incredibly accommodating, reaching out on WhatsApp and arranging to meet us shortly after we'd arrived at our hotel in Giza. We were picked up in a private car and driven to each historical site. Nader provided us with lots of information about the history of each site and along the way provided us with great conversation and answered our questions about modern Egyptian culture. During the tour, Nader mentioned that the inside of the pyramids was rather bland and had nothing inside. There's much less foot traffic than in the great pyramids making it much easier to get in and out. If you are claustrophobic you may struggle a bit, but it would be much worse at the Great Pyramid. We went inside the Red Pyramid and Djoser Pyramid and decided to skip the Great Pyramid line which took some of our friends over 1 hour to get in. I would definitely recommend going to the pyramids. Upon our request, after the tour, Nader took us to a Papyrus making shop where they showed us how papyrus was made. They sold papyrus with various art and we chose to buy a couple of pieces as souvenirs.

Disappointment at best

The private tour started 27 minutes late after I called to inquire the location of their personnel. The car was old, dirty, and A/C was poor. The guide and Egyptologist were nice but as a result of today’s experience, I cancelled my City Tour. Fool me once….
