Built for the powerful female pharaoh Hatshepsut, this unique temple is located on the west bank of the Nile near Luxor and is famous for its striking terraces carved into the cliffs of Deir el-Bahari. The temple showcases beautiful reliefs and inscriptions that tell the story of Hatshepsut’s reign, including her famous trading expedition to the Land of Punt. We had a timely pickup at our Hotel in Marsa Alam followed by a 4.5hr drive in a private Minivan to Luxor. The driver made one stop at 7:30 for coffee and restrooms. Our guide, Mina joined us in in Luxor and we visited the valley of the Kings first. Very impressive, although i had been there 30 years ago. Our guide was very open to our suggestions and we had asked to have lunch first, than visit the sites. We had lunch in a nice restaurant and the vegetarian food was typical and fresh. We then proceeded to the Papyrus shop to show my family how papyrus is made and also purchased a small souvenir. Then came the highlight of the tour. A 45-minute sailboat ride in a traditional fellucca (this was extra cost, but definitively worth it). The captain and his two younger brothers were very kind and performed a small dance along the ride. At the end there was some time for shopping in the Souk of Luxor and then we needed to head back before the desert road was closed for the night (safety curfew). We arrived back in Marsa Alam at 9pm. All-in-all a very successful tour with a our very knowledgeable and flexible guide, Mina. I can highly recommend him as a guide. He has lots of historical knowledge of the ancient dynasties and is obviously very experienced. His English is excellent and he is a very kind and decent person.

The trip overall was amazing, everything that was promised was there and more. Our driver did more than amazing job with driving us from our hotel to Luxor in a nice and comfortabale way, and our guide (Sayed) went out of his way to show us the sites, the history behind them, and all around... The lunch provided was authentic and amazing!!

At first, perfectly organized and optimized trip (really private, 3pax and driver). All questions via whatsup immediately responded and solved, driver arrived precisely in time, waiting on hotel. A bit disapointed by only sedan/wagon car, but later, when we passed all minibuses on checkoint I really appreciated it ;) Rady our guide choosed best organization to skip the crowds (do not hesitate to ask directly what are best days of actual week to come to Luxor to avoid crowds from Nile boats). We spent most time on Karnak (absolutely must see), added and liked private boat trip +€30 (definately yes), seen Banana island(not as much), local lunch (very tasty, but who knows consequences:), Valley of Kings (second must have), Statues (can skip), small souvenir shop (as you wish) and at 2pm now leaving Luxor, so we've seen and done a lot in Eslam, driver, perfect man drives speedy, but safely, as we like it. Definately we can recommend. At 7pm at dinner, so why repeat suntanning or diving and why not to see a piece of history. Take it

Our trip to Luxor began at 3 AM with a private car transfer from our hotel. Since our hotel was located far south of Marsa Alam, the driver picked us up an hour earlier than usual, at no extra cost, to give us more time at our destination. The driver was professional and friendly, spoke English, and immediately made us feel comfortable. During the first part of the journey, we slept, but as the sun rose, we enjoyed the drive through the desert, even taking an extra stop at a scenic spot for some photos. The journey to Luxor is long—about 7 hours to get there and 6 hours to return due to traffic. For safety reasons, drivers must pass through Safaga and Qena, crossing several police checkpoints. This is a mandatory requirement for all tourist trips, implemented to ensure visitors' safety. Stops are limited to designated tourist rest areas, which can feel restrictive but are understandable. The most captivating part of the trip was driving through the villages along the Nile between Qena and Luxor. We witnessed everyday life: workers in sugarcane fields on donkeyback, children heading to school, and authentic scenes untouched by mass tourism. For us, this was one of the most moving parts of the trip, offering a genuine glimpse into the daily lives of these regions. In Luxor, we were greeted by an expert Egyptologist guide. Our first stop was the Valley of the Kings, where we were given detailed explanations about the most fascinating tombs to visit. Unfortunately, time was limited—just the tombs alone would require a full day to explore. Guides are not allowed inside the tombs, so explanations are provided beforehand, supported by images. Despite this, the experience was incredible, and the tombs are true historical masterpieces. Next, we visited the Temple of Hatshepsut, which we found less engaging as much of it has been reconstructed. We opted to skip photos at the Colossi of Memnon to have more time at the Karnak Temple—majestic, vast, and rich in history. Time was again insufficient to fully explore it, but the guide’s explanations and the free time for photos struck a good balance. The included lunch was a delightful surprise. Despite our initial skepticism about a potential "tourist trap," the food was genuine and delicious. We enjoyed a vegetable soup served in clay pots, beef and chicken stews, and exceptional fresh bread. It was one of the best meals of our vacation! The excursion was beautiful, intense, and emotionally rewarding. However, it is quite demanding due to the long journey and limited time to visit everything. As a result, some historical explanations felt rushed, although our guide was clearly very knowledgeable and would have happily given more detailed insights if we had had more time. We recommend planning this trip over two days if possible, to fully appreciate all that Luxor has to offer. At a cost of approximately €105 per person, including transportation, guide, and lunch, this excursion offers excellent value for money. Highly recommended, especially for those seeking a unique and authentic experience in Egypt.
