Karnak is an ancient Egyptian temple precinct located on the east bank of the Nile River in Thebes (modern-day Luxor). It covers more than 100 hectares, an area larger than some ancient cities.
Constructed over hundreds of years by Amenhotep III, Ramses II, Tutankhamun, and other pharaohs, Luxor Temple was the largest and most significant religious center in ancient Egypt. In what was then Thebes, Luxor Temple was “the place of the First Occasion,” where the god Amon experienced rebirth during the pharaoh’s annually reenacted coronation ceremony.
The west bank of Luxor had been the site of royal burials since around 2100 BC, but it was the pharaohs of the New Kingdom period (1550–1069 BC) who chose this isolated valley dominated by the pyramid-shaped mountain peak of Al Qurn (The Horn). Once called the Great Necropolis of Millions of Years of Pharaoh, or the Place of Truth, the Valley of the Kings has 63 magnificent royal tombs.
At Deir Al Bahri, the eyes first focus on the dramatic rugged limestone cliffs that rise nearly 300m above the desert plain, only to realise that at the foot of all this immense beauty lies a monument even more extraordinary, the dazzling Temple of Hatshepsut. The almost-modern-looking temple blends in beautifully with the cliffs from which it is partly cut – a marriage made in heaven. Most of what you see has been painstakingly reconstructed.

Ahmed Awad My favorite part was learning about the different Pharaohs and going to different temples. Ahmed Awad was a wonderful very informative tour guide. He made sure everyone and everything was secure and was helpful with the language barriers.

Long but great day! From the time we landed, Hassan was a wealth of information! It was just the two of us so as soon as we landed we met Hassan and our driver and went to the Philae temple. Afterwards we went to the Nubian village and took a tour on the Nile! Thankfully we had him as there was no waiting anywhere we went! The next day we visited Abu Simbel and it was amazing! I liked how at each location we would first get a history lesson of what we were seeing and he would explain what story the hieroglyphics were depicting. Having Hassan was also helpful when it came to getting away from vendors! Finally we visited Luxor and saw the Luxor Temple, Karnak and the valley of the Kings. Absolutely amazing.

What an amazing day! I have learned so much and was amazed to see the tombs an temples! All the details so well explained by Azab, he knows so much, was very patient and attentive with all my questions. Azab as the guide and Houssein driving were such a good team I decided to continue the experience in the next day in Denderav and Abidos!

My favorite part was Luxor and Aswan. I really enjoyed every temple, museum especially the valley of kings.

Our guide Ahmed was great. He was attentive to all our needs and was very knowledgeable and friendly. Sometimes the time we were able to spend at some places was a little short, but that was the standard for everyone on the boat cruises regardless of the tour group, and I felt like Ahmed showed us the most important aspects.
