Grand day out

Menna was a fantastic host, she is very knowledgeable and showed us the most beautiful parts of Khan el-Khalili and downtown Cairo. We had shawarma kebabs and would strongly recommend for solo or group travellers. The driver also was very safe which is highly appreciated in Egyptian traffic

Market Visit

The trip to the market was great. Our tour guide, Hana, was knowledgeable of the area and gave us an informative review of her country's history. Fantastic job and will do this tour again

Excellent guide, excellent value

Our guide, Hana, was very knowledgeable and chatted to us throughout the tour. She showed us some great sites and explained their relevance. We did this tour in daylight as we wanted to see the architecture etc. I would recommend this tour.

Ahmed was a great guide taking me through the Bazaar and the most famous street in Cairo at night! So much life there, beautiful lights and great menthe tea at famous Fishawy coffee! Ending with a great dinner at restaurant with a show! Thank you very much Ahmed and to our driver for such great time!

Fun experiencing old Cairo markets at night!

This tour is a great way to spend few hrs at night exploring old Cairo lanes. My guide Menna was very knowledgeable, helpful and took us through crowded lanes , dotted with several souvenir shops and old and historical mosques. We experienced mint tea at a famous cafe and concluded the tour with dinner at an iconic restaurant that serves Koshari.

Nice market tour and diner

The tour was nice to see the local market. The guide was very kind and showed us the way through the market. We had a nice tea in the street and in the end we went to a really good restaurant with unique food. I recommend this tour.

Night walk

The Cairo night tour with Rifi was a lot of fun, it showed us and told us facts and curiosities of the city, and more specifically of Al Khalili Bazaar. We ended up having some very nice shawarmas.

Not worth the hassle

Here’s the summary and review of what took place during this tour. Every went okay until almost the end of the tour. Our guide Ahmad was punctual arriving to our hotel. We booked the tour the same day through the Viator app and were given two options available that night… 20:30 and 21:00. We opted for the 20:30. Ahmad is an older gentleman with a very passionate personality about history and Egyptian culture which was amazing, His way of doing the tour could come across as rough ( if you happen to be taking a picture of something while he’s speaking, he forcefully grabs you by the hand or arm and makes you touch or look at whatever he was explaining) we were two males on the group and still found it odd, not sure if he’d do the same thing with females … but that’s for someone else to review. He took us to the market and it was awesome. My cousin and I asked when dinner was going to be since we were starting to get hungry and he kept dismissing our requests. Then we suggested maybe getting a coffee, he told us it was going to be extra and we were okay with it and ended up sitting down on a nice busy street people watching and listening to some live music. We ordered coffees ( 2 for my cousin, because he had a second one) and a mint tea for me, and asked him to order too because we were going to cover the cost anyway… so he did. Then I suggest to my cousin to order shisha for the table and Ahmad chose / recommended the flavour, he also enjoyed the shisha with us ( he told us the price was $8.00 USD for the shisha ) mind you we hadn’t seen any price list at all ( that’s on us, so we’ll take it ). We were having a great conversation and I asked him when dinner was gonna be and he looked at his watch and realized it was late. So he told us we needed to go because he hadn’t realized how late it was, we were getting up and tried to get the servers attention to get our bill and the server told us that Ahmad had taken care of the bill… Ahmad never left the table nor handed the server any money, but somehow the bill was taken care of. We walked back to the drop off point where our driver had left us earlier and he wasn’t there so Ahmad got on the phone. I saw a gift shop and asked Ahmad if I had time to go while we waited and he told me yes. So I purchase some perfumes and finally the driver arrived . The mood was weird inside the car. There was some yelling and something wasn’t right. Ahmad told later that the driver was mad because we had taken too long at the markets. He took us to Koshari Abou Tarek. A famous local eatery which many of my friends had recommended. Anthony Bourdain had featured the restaurant on one of his last tv documentaries. I was planning on going at one point during our visit but it was about 45 minutes so I was thrilled to be going there. Food was good, well explained and delivered. We asked for drinks and he told us that the drinks weren’t included on the tour. We agreed to pay and we finished eating and headed downstairs to meet the driver. It was about 12:30 AM. Ahmad got on the phone and my cousin and I were just reading about the restaurant etc. Ahmad came to us and asked us if we could call ourselves an Uber to go back to the hotel since our driver had decided to go home and leave us stranded there, also Ahmad said he would’ve called the Uber for us but he doesn’t know “ how technology works” ( his words ) . I told Ahmad that my shopping bag was left in the car as per Ahmad’s instructions and asked Ahmad how I was going to get them back. He dismissed my question and got back on the phone. Suddenly our driver appears and I guess things went back to normal so I canceled the Uber and headed back to the hotel. Once at the hotel we got out of the car he immediately approached us and told us we owned him $35 US dollars for the night. We asked about a breakdown of what he was claiming and here’s what he came up with ( all in US dollars ) $8.00 for the shisha $10.00 for the 2 cans of generic brand sprite at the restaurant. $15.00 for 3 coffees at the shop where we stopped by $2.00 for my mint tea . We were beyond surprised at the amount at the end since we never thought it’d had been that expensive. We had cash out ready to give it to Ahmad but a large portion of the amount we had ready was for his tip . We handed him $40.00US and said our goodbyes. He had also mentioned that he would be happy to take us to the pyramids and other attractions too if we wanted. We didn’t confirmed anything . We got to our hotel and weren’t too happy on how the tour had ended and decided to over what the ad says was included on the tour ( something I never do since I trust the tour guides and me being a seasoned Viator user, I’ve never had any issues before ). * The description on viator states we DO get coffee drinks for free . * the restaurant where we were supposed to be taken to, is supposed to have salad, vegetables and dessert options ( a choice we were never given) * I took a screenshot of the menu at the restaurant and a can of pop sells for about 0.68 cents and yet Ahmad charged us $5.00 per can. We contacted Ahmad after he dropped us off and sent him all the screenshots from the Viator website and called him out on all the discrepancies and his only answer was that he was going to return the money the next day… all the money except the shisha Money was never returned . Be aware

Exciting and worth every penny!

PICK HANA! She’s the most awesome young lady around! She picked me up in time and took me to some incredible places! In all honesty, I would not be able to navigate this part of town alone! She knew all the nooks and crannies. She took me to the most beautiful mosque! I’ve personally never been in one and it felt so peaceful compared to the wild excitement of the streets of Cairo! We then walked thru the streets of Khan Kaliilli! I wanted to pick a few gifts for back home. We went to one of those old cafes and I got a delicious desert drink and henna! After that we went for koshari and tea. At the end she drove me back and I was so tired and happy! Thanks hana! I’ll never forget you! Much love from San Francisco! ♥️💕❤️😋

Nice experience.

Nice evening tour of Cairo. Rafi, the guide, very friendly, friendly, professional and with a good Spanish, despite having learned it in Egypt.
