When I was looking for a way to get among the people during a 4 week language course in Cairo, I saw the offer to have dinner with an Egyptian family. I have lived with AirBnB in an Egyptian apartment, but to get a part of Egyptian family life, and to try my Arabic a little was very tempting. After I booked, Ahmed immediately replied to me and organized the journey to the apartment with me. Finding an address in Cairo is sometimes not so easy. Even when I arrived by taxi, we were still in contact via mobile phone, and so I was able to find the apartment quickly and safely. Arriving I felt immediately accepted in the family. It was not an artificial performance, but a normal evening with a family with the two young daughters. We talked a lot in English , because my Arabic was not enough yet. Communication was very pleasant and the two daughters open and interested. It was a very nice evening, both human and very interesting to experience the problems of everyday life in Egypt. Above all, you get to know the part of the country that is not connected with the tourist industry and its possible special difficulties, but the openness and friendliness of ordinary Egyptians. Shuruq and Ahmed are very open, lovable people with whom I am still in contact. I can only recommend this offer to an Egyptian family as a contrast or nice addition to the fast-paced tourist programs, which usually have a lot to do with ancient history but unfortunately do not have contact with the people in the program. Having dinner with Ahmed & Shorouk and their 2 sweet daughters was one of the highlights of my trip to Egypt. I really felt immersed in the Egyptian culture and highly recommend activity!!!

This was a great experience. We did all of the regular tourist spots in Cairo, but here we got to see how real Egyptians live. The food was really good and Ahmed and family were great! Highly recommend.

Egypt is not only pyramids and temples, there are many nice people in this country. This was certainly an experience that I will not forget, Ahmed and his family have welcomed me as if I were part of it, very nice people, smiling and with so many stories to tell. The truth is very nice people and open to know other cultures. The food was delicious and the preparation process very interesting. There was plenty of food to try and everything was really delicious. Home-cooked food is simply the best.

This experience is the one of the best memories from my trip to Egypt. Not only are Shorouk, Ahmed, and their children delightful to be around, but the food was extremely delicious. They made me feel right at home with nice conversation during my visit with them. The different dishes placed on the table were explained to me, and I even got to peak into the kitchen while the cooking was in process. This is a "must do" for anyone spending time in Cairo; don't miss it! I feel like I now have family in Egypt.
