1 Day Luxor with Marsa Alam Tours - Over and Over
We were a group of 14 people (12 athletes and 2 adults) and actually went to the training camp in Egypt. One day we did not want to train but to see something of Egyptian culture, for this purpose the internet was searched and the provider Marsa Alam Tours with its 1-day trip to Luxor was found. The good bristles immediately caught the eye.
So a request e-mail sent in English and received a reply in German about 1 day later, which promised a lot ☺️.
Several emails later with many questions on my part and detailed answers from Amal (thank you very much for your patience) the trip to Luxor was arranged. The deposit was made via a deposit payment link, was super easy to do.
As the only drawback we learned 1 day before departure that we will drive 2 minibuses we had assumed 1 vehicle (would have been nicer because of the group), but also went so.
All other important information about the departure came the day before via WhatsApp, so keep patience.
Punctually 5am the two minibuses left before and after 4 hours we were in Luxor where Ahmed, our German speaking guide, got on board.
On the way out 1-2 explanations about the ride and some stops would have been nice but not decisive.
Ahmed was our guide for the whole day with excellent knowledge of German. Thank you so much.
We visited the Karnak Temple, a small Papyros factory with exhibition space, then we went across the Nile by boat to the banana plantation, then for lunch which was very good tasted and sufficient! The beef was particularly good. Thanks for the tip.
Then we went to the Temple of Hatsepsut, to an alabaster workshop and then to the Valley of the Kings until 4:15 p.m.
Ahmed was totally great, he kept the individual information about the respective place short and concise, just right for our young people.
At 7:45 p.m. we were back.
I can only recommend to all Marsa Alam Tours.
However, you should allow yourself 2 days for Luxor.
Personally, I came up with the idea to take a private holiday in Egypt 😉.

Private tour to Luxor
Nice guide he told very very much. We were lucky enough that it was not so busy yet and that is why we also got an extra tour in one of the royal tombs.

Day trip to Luxor from Soma Bay
The organization of the trip was not good, the driver didn’t appear on the day booked. So we had to postpone our trip to the next day. However, the day trip to Luxor was totally worth it. The temples were amazing and our guide Mansur was really good. He explained in detail every temple that we visited. Despite the organization problem, I would recommend this trip.

Day in Luxor with Hoda
We had a wonderful day in Luxor (pick up in Soma Bay). Hoda our guide - doctorate Egyptologist - guided us through all the sights. She was very professional, in a great mood and had explained everything in detail. We enjoyed it very much and we would recommend it to anyone.

Private tour of Luxor (family of 4) in one day, from Soma Bay, Valley of the Kings and main temples of Luxor
We spent a wonderful day in Luxor with our guide Hoda. Especially since she comes from the “Valley of Kings” region, she knows very well the history of her region, the meaning of each engraving, the history of these monuments, temples and statues and masters its subject. Do not hesitate to ask Hoda if you are looking for a guide who speaks French.
We had a very busy schedule, lack of time obliges. Ideally, you should book two days, so much to see, but the challenge was met brilliantly. You should however discuss with the guide what you have time to do or not, (you will also not be able to see all the tombs of the Valley of the Kings!) especially on the day when attendance will return to normal.
Everything was very well organized by Marsa Alam Tour, from pick-up at our hotel to return. This private travel package is ideal because they can adapt it to your wishes. Of course, it costs a little more, but it is well worth it. Communication is mainly via whatsapp, it is very effective, allows flexibility and avoids any misunderstanding. They are very responsive to any request.

A day to remember
We were a group of 4 in our English tour to Luxor with Tarek el'Shazly as our guide for the day. He was on time and even looked fresh at 5:30 am, which I can't say about my self :)).
Tarek is very friendly, has a good English and I appreciated the fact that he understood our needs. It was a very hot day and we did not want to spend a lot of time in the sun, so his explanations were to the point but broad enough to get the big picture from all the places we went: Karnak temple, Valley of the Kings, Temple of Hatshepsut. There were some local shops visited. I liked the papyrus store; not so much the alabaster store (the owners were too pushy for my stile, but keep in mind that in Egypt all sellers are very pushy).
Our driver was also ok and professional, but I don't know his name.
Tarek, thanks for all the pictures taken to us and for helping us have a memorable day despite the heat and getting up early :).

The perfect private tour with a perfectly German speaking local guide
Our family (4 members) was picked up at the hotel in Soma Bay at 05.30 am.
The drive to Luxor was quite long (about 4 hours), but the two drivers drove very carefully. They took turns driving so it felt very safe. It had several checkpoints with police on the route. The minivan had about 10 seats and was clean.
In Luxor, we met our German-speaking guide Ahmed, who studied "German Studies" in Cairo, on the west side of the Nile. He speaks flawless German. We learned a lot about the antiquities, but we were also able to discuss everything else, e.g. the current economic situation or the dispute with Ethiopia over the dam project on the blue Nile, which guarantees 85% of the water supply for Egypt.
First we visited the Colossi of Memnon, then the temple of Queen Hatshepsut. On the way to the Valley of the Kings we stopped at a stonemason. They're very good sellers, and they keep courting you until you buy something. In return, the teens got a Coke and we got real Egyptian coffee. It's a boon when you get up at 5 a.m. By the way, you should ask for a breakfast box in the hotel. Practical!
Also in the morning we visited the Valley of the Kings. Access to 3 graves is included in your package. Unfortunately, the Führer is not allowed to visit the graves. He therefore gave us a brief explanation beforehand. The local lunch (chicken or meat) tasted great. As a precaution, we didn't eat the salad and the fruit.
Afterwards, the guide suggested us an optional Nile trip. Can be done or not. Is not included in the price. However, it is a nice break on this busy day and it is pleasantly cool on the Nile.
The boat dropped us off on the east side, where the drivers were already waiting. The last visit was to Karnak Temple. You just have to visit this one. The many tall columns are overwhelming.
All in all we were very happy with the tour. We always felt safe but would have liked the drivers to have spoken English better. We could hardly talk to them. The package included all admissions and lunch. We would love to come back to Ahmed !

Authentic and knowledgeable english speaking Luxor guides
I had a great experience visiting Luxor with a private guide, Hoda. She was very knowledgeable, spoke excellent english and brought the history and temples to life during the tour. She had a very personable approach rather than just being ‘a guide’ and I felt she shared her culture rather than just facts.
Sam, the driver, was brilliant too picking me up from the hotel at 5.30am and dropping me off well after 7pm - such a long day for him.
I have no hesitation recommending Hoda & Sam to any visitors wanting an authentic experience.
