A Day in Fayoum: Between Lakes, Villages, and the Desert Landscape
The journey took about 2.5 hours each way, so overall it was a fairly long itinerary, but the drive itself was very scenic. Along the way, we were treated to some local roadside coffee, and on the way back they kindly made a short stop to show us a pottery workshop I had wanted to visit. The tour was structured around visiting two spots, experiencing two activities, having lunch, and then returning. The first hill offered a nice view and felt like a good scenic spot. Although we did not participate this time, there is an optional off-road driving tour through the desert and around the lake available for an additional USD 40, where you switch to a 4WD vehicle. The second stop was a waterfall, which felt quite unique given its location in the desert. We were given an explanation of its history and formation, which helped provide some context and understanding of the area. The rowing boat experience (not a felucca with sails) offered pleasant views of the lake, though as an activity it felt like a fairly standard boat ride. Sandboarding was enjoyable and a nice way to experience the atmosphere of Fayoum. For lunch, there was a choice between fish or a mixed grill of beef and chicken. The meal was relatively generous, and the taste was simply good. Overall, to be honest, the experience felt slightly underwhelming considering the price. The lakes, the streets of Tunis village, and the everyday scenery of Fayoum that we passed along the way were truly beautiful, which made it feel a bit unfortunate to move through them so quickly. Given the limited time, I understand that there are inevitable limits to what can be done in a single day. Perhaps by choosing or incorporating more locally rooted experiences rather than standard tourist spots, the overall satisfaction could be even higher. This is purely my personal impression of the existing, pre-arranged tour. Lastly, I would like to mention that both the guide and the driver were very kind and attentive throughout the day. Thank you very much for a pleasant experience—I am truly grateful.

Absolutely to do
It was a fantastic experience! The desert with its thousand discoveries gave us breathtaking landscapes riding the dunes with a 4x4 in Paris Dakar style (the super helpful driver brought us a place where others did not stop). Our guide Mario was very kind and excellent narrator, he accompanied us throughout the day revealing himself to be also a great photographer! We also visited the village of Tunis where we ate great food at sunset and bought the typical ceramics. Thanks also to Mohamed our driver from Giza to the oasis!

Best tour in Egypt
Essam is a very very honest and nice tour guide. He does everything to make your experience perfect. He never leaves you alone makes sure you’re not pestered by anyone when doing your activities. He handles all bills and excursions throughout the day without hassle. Truly worth every penny my wife and mother loved this trip.

Wadi Ryan Falls and El Fayoum Oasis Tour
The waterfalls, lakes and desert offer the visitor breathtaking scenery. Giorgio was a perfect guide: kind, prepared, attentive to our needs. It is an experience that I would definitely recommend.
