The Citadel of Cairo or Citadel of Saladin (Arabic: قلعة صلاح الدين Qalaʿat Salāḥ ad-Dīn) is a medieval Islamic-era fortification in Cairo, Egypt, built by Salah ad-Din (Saladin) and further developed by subsequent Egyptian rulers. It was the seat of government in Egypt and the residence of its rulers for nearly 700 years from the 13th to the 19th centuries. Its location on a promontory of the Mokattam hills near the center of Cairo commands a strategic position overlooking the city and dominating its skyline. At the time of its construction, it was among the most impressive and ambitious military fortification projects of its time. It is now a preserved historic site, including mosques and museums.
The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities, known commonly as the Egyptian Museum or Museum of Cairo, in Cairo, Egypt, is home to an extensive collection of ancient Egyptian antiquities. It has 120,000 items, with a representative amount on display, the remainder in storerooms. Built in 1901 by the Italian construction company Garozzo-Zaffarani to a design by the French architect Marcel Dourgnon, the edifice is one of the largest museums in the region. As of March 2019, the museum is open to the public. In 2020 the museum is due to be superseded by the new Grand Egyptian Museum at Giza.

Egyptian museum is amazing! Seeing the mummies from that close is an experience you shouldn't miss when visiting Cairo. Our guide Ayman Gabry explained everything and took us to the best places in the market and also to the citadel. Mostafa, our driver was always in time and had the car ready (air-conditioned). I definitely suggest this tour to everyone!

We booked this tour for the comfort and safety. We were really happy with our tour! Our guide Ihab Huba was very patient and helped us take the pictures we wanted. He was flexible with our itinerary and explained us a lot about history of Egypt. We also got a great surprise - lunch on a boat, as well as snacks for the way. He showed us the best shops at the bazaar. Also thanks to the driver Farg we felt very safe on the toad. We were very glad we took this tour!

Do the sights on your own and save $$ you can hire a guide for the museum but otherwise the market and citadel require no guiding. Poor guide who was busy on his phone or leaving us on our own to chat to friends or run personal errands. We were given a take away lunch and were back at our hotel before 1 pm

At the last moment in Cairo, we realised that the visit to The Egyptian Museum on our own, wouldn't be wise without a knowledable English speaking guide, because of the sheer number of exhibits there. Ahmed Tonsi booked us a comprehensive full day Cairo sihtseeing tour through Emo Tours at a very reasonable price to see Coptic Cairo, Cairo Citadel, Alabaster Mosque of Mohammad Ali and The Egyptian Museum - which is a must see in Cairo. Without him, we couldn't have covered all the important items in the museum in half a day. Tonsi took care of all our specific needs and offered taylored advice at every step. His knowledge about ancient and modern Egyptian history is amazing. He is also an honest, trustworthy and friendly guy - the best we got in Cairo.

We really had an enjoyable day tour with our guide, Sayed Mamoud of Emo Tour. Besides that he conducted himself professionally, he was also very kind to take tons of photos of us which we'll for sure cherish now and in the future. He treat us to a nice restaurant that serves a delish Egyptian cuisine. I cannot thank him enough for the great service. Also, I thank our driver, Hamada for being patient and for keeping us safe in our travel from one site to another. Thank you both and to Emo Tour for our unforgettable experience of Cairo.

He was very knowledgeable and helpful and always gave us ample time to go check things out on our own. We made it to all the spots and he always offered to take photos of us. I really liked how when we used words he wasn’t familiar with when we commented on something he explained or expressed our fascination, he wrote them down so he could learn the terminology later. So I was more than happy to offer assistance with the spelling and such. I also give high praises to the driver. He was friendly and he got us safely to all of our destinations.
