My Alexandria trip
The tour guide Eriny was excellent, she made my tour experience amazing. Alexandria trip would never have been the same if not for this lovely guide! Thank you Ramaside for sending her with me. Even the driver Abdulla was very kind and made me feel safe and cared for! I have no words to thank them

A fun day with a knowledgeable guide
We had an excellent day around the sights of Alexandria with Mohamed and the driver. Mohamed was very knowledgeable and friendly and had an infectious laugh. We were able to relax and share jokes while traveling. Our two children responded really well to Mohamed as well. We came away from the day with a much better understanding of the history of the area and an appreciation for the beautiful places in Alexandria given our short time in the city. Mohamed even helped to negotiate for us to be dropped off at a different location at the end of the tour which we really appreciated.

One day in Alexandria
We took a one day tour to Alexandria ( it was part of our global 8 days tour in Egypt, as suggested by Ramasside in between 2 days in Cairo )
The positives : Rania, our guide was very nice, soft spoken, she had great knowledge of history, egyptian culture and details about the sites we visited, and Alexandria in general ( her hometown) and we asked her to visit some extra sites during the day ( skipped lunch) so we could see more things and she helped us with that.
So Thanks Rania ( but Ramasside, not so much, for the planning of this day out)
The negatives ( and I insist that those are NOT the guide's responsability ! ) :
We left very early, after travelling, and following a big day of visits in Cairo. It turned out to be not necessary at all, because after seeing everything that the agency planned and included in our tour, we were finished by lunch time. Gardens, palace ( closed for renovation, not much to see there) + the outside of the fort ( build instead the lighthouse) + the Mosque ( which you cannot go inside) + walk in the old town + St Catherine + quick check the outside of Alexandria library ( closed on that day) All that was FREE in fact ( no entrances fees were included in this tour)
So.... It's only because we requested to see the catacombs + the inside of the fort + the roman theatre that we actually visited things in the city.
We really wonder what we were supposed to do in Alexandria for that entire afternoon, after the included places Ramasside had planned ??
Maybe don't send people to visit things that are deeply under construction or closed to the public ( or suggest an alternative, at least)
Every visit we did had to be paid extra of course. And even then after being stuck in heavy traffic for about 3 hours (noise, gasoline smell,...) we still managed to end up at the hotel at 5pm... with no plans for the evening in sight ( Hilton in the middle of a MALL - super far from seashore, so no real possibility to take a stroll anywhere - quite boring, we could only walk around the mall and eat something... )
It would have been much better to actually go back to Cairo that same night, get a decent evening out or even a good rest in our nice Cairo hotel, and be ready for the next morning ( pyramids ! )
I enjoyed the catacombs, Fort Qaitbay and Roman theatre, but everything else wasn't worth it in my opinion, and Alexandria is NOT relaxing at all, the beach is all rocks and cafés, and a very loud and large road right behind with millions of horns and klaxons ( the Corniche). It's a stressful city center, traffic jam everywhere, and very dirty. Not at all the romantic idea we had of that "great vacation destination" the Egyptian apparently adore.

Worth the drive.
What an wonderful tour of the Alexandria!
Rania was our tour guide. She did an amazing job. She was on time and her depth of knowledge about every aspect of each place we visited was truly remarkable. (Our driver did a great job as well, we felt very safe). Rania’s way of explaining all of the extraordinary history of Alexandria was great.
We couldn’t have been happier.
I would highly recommend asking for Rania to be your tour guide if you are able to.
