Great first day in Egypt
Excellent tour! Our tour guide picked us up at our hotel, Hilton at Corniche at the agreed upon time of 9am. They conacted us the night before to reconfirm the start time. Medhad our tour guide and Joseph our driver kept it fun the whole time. Medhad gave detailed history of the city, specific areas, egyptian culture old and new, religion and foods. He keeped us informed of all of the additional tours available without making us feel pressured to buy. We stopped by a bizzar with traditional egyptian oils and papyrus paintings and other souvenirs. When we first walked in and were asked to sit down, I felt hesitant that we were going to be pressured or guilted into buying things. It started out awkward because we were expecting the pressure. The man explained the egyptian history of the papyrus, the stories of the paintings and the oils. The history itself was excellent and he made it clear it was okay not to buy. We enjoy maps so we did and up buying papyrus paintings. We left feeling happy and on to the next place. It may seem like everything is a sales pitch but you dont have to add anything. It is not rude to nicely decline even if it is the 12th or 20th suggestion. They really want you to have the best experience. Lunch was a little odd. We didnt get menus. He suggested the sea bass, so we got the sea bass. I only wanted water but our guide ordered a lemon with mint for me to try. We ended up paying for it. We gave our tour guide the 440 egyptian pounds ($28usd) for 2 seabass, a Pepsi and a lemon with mint.+tip
