Co zobaczysz

  1. Catacombs Of Kom El Shoqafa
    4 godziny

At 7:00 am, we will pick you up from your hotel and head straight to Alexandria, where we will spend the next two and a half hours traveling by highway to get to our starting point "Kom El Shoqafa" in Alexandria. Kom El Shoqafa contains a collection of tombs, statues, and archaeological artifacts associated with the Pharaonic funeral mortuary cults and Hellenistic and early Imperial Roman influences. Because of the time, many of the characteristics of Kom El Shoqafa's catacombs combine Roman, Greek, and Egyptian cultural points; some statues are Egyptian in style but wear Roman clothes and hairstyles, while others share a similar style. A circular staircase descends into the tombs tunneled into the bedrock during the Antonine emperors' reign. (2nd century AD)From the 2nd to the 4th centuries, the building was used as a burial chamber before being rediscovered in 1900.

  2. Pompey's Pillar
    1 godzina

It will be the secondary attraction. The Pompey Pillar's moniker is deceptive. Gaius Pompey, a Roman general, and consul, was a rival of Julius Caesar in a civil war and was assassinated by a Ptolemaic pharaoh in 48 BC as he escaped to Alexandria. This single column, perched on a rocky hilltop in the center of Alexandria, has nothing to do with him. Crusaders believed his grave was marked by a 100-foot (30-meter) red Aswan granite pillar, which is how this tale started. The pillar is a triumphal monument built for the Roman Emperor Diocletian in 300 AD. During the visit, the site will be admired from the outside only, making it an ideal stop without requiring entrance fees. The real importance of this archaeological site lies in what was before the pillar: the Serapeum, Alexandria's acropolis.

  3. Citadel of Qaitbay
    1 godzina

The third stop will be this. In Alexandria, Egypt, on the Mediterranean Sea the coast, stands the 15th-century defensive fortress known as the Citadel of Qaitbay or the Fort of Qaitbay. In 1477 AD (882 AH), Sultan Al-Ashraf Sayf al-Din Qa'it Bay founded it. The Citadel is located at the mouth of the Eastern Harbour on the eastern edge of Pharos Island's northern tip.

  4. Bibliotheca Alexandrina
    3 godziny

We will visit the world's largest library: "Bibliotheca Alexandrina", which currently has 8 million Books. Visit its open court to see the statues of Ptolemy the First and Alexander the Great, which were both discovered close underwater. You will go to "The President Sadat Museum" and the "Alexandria Museum of Impressions. Please note that the Alexandria Library is closed on Friday and legal holidays. You will need to buy a ticket to access the reading section. Finally, we will travel to the beginning location for around 2.5 hours on the highway.

  5. Ancient Roman Amphitheater
    1 godzina

The Roman Amphitheatre is one of Alexandria's most popular monuments. This is Egypt's second most important city, after the capital, Cairo. While the amphitheaters were spread through the different countries like Greece, Italy, and Turkey during the reign of the Romans with many examples of these structures still present in many regions around Europe and the Middle East, the Roman Amphitheatre of Alexandria is the only one of

A special day trip to Egypt's Mediterranean historic sites

Many thanks to Eslam and Mustafa for an excellent day trip to Alexandria. We left early from Cairo and were able to see the green Nile valley on our way to major sites in Alexandria. The transfer from one location to the next was very smooth, and we enjoyed a tasty seafood lunch at the end of our tour before heading back to Cairo. It was a beautiful day spent visiting the Biblioteca Alexandrina, the catacombs, key archaeological sites, and the Qaitbay Fort.

Jumping into the history of Alexandria

My husband and I took an amazing day tour of Alexandria with Eslam as our tour guide. He was very attentive, polite and professional throughout the whole tour. His knowledge of Egyptian history was in-depth. He explained and answered all of our questions in detail about the history of each place we visited. I highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in visiting Alexandria. Eslam will take you back in time for a couple of hours.

A Decent Day Trip, But Fell Short of “Private Tour” Expectations

The highlights of this private day tour from Cairo to Alexandria were definitely the historical sites – the catacombs, the Citadel of Qaitbay, and the famous Alexandria Library were all worth seeing and made the long journey worthwhile. However, the overall experience didn’t quite live up to the expectations of a private tour. The guide had very limited information to share and was difficult to communicate with, which made it hard to really connect with the significance of the places we visited. Lunch was another letdown — the restaurant chosen had a surprisingly long wait despite being mostly empty, which cut into our touring time. Transportation-wise, the vehicle was a basic sedan that felt cramped for such a long ride, especially with limited air conditioning. I had to ask the driver for a charger for my phone, and there were a few unscheduled stops for gas and coffee along the way, which added unnecessary delays. Driving in Egypt is intense, so be prepared for aggressive traffic and constant horn honking. Honestly, I think I might have enjoyed this more as part of a group tour on a larger bus — more comfort, and perhaps a better guide. Not a bad trip overall, just underwhelming for the price and the promise of a "private" experience.

Beautiful Alexandria

This is an interesting tour of Alexandria. We visited all the places listed on the tour itinerary and our Guide Eslam was very experienced and informative. He provided valuable information on the places visited. We had an excellent lunch on a nice restaurant overlooking the Mediterranean. Our driver Mustafa was very attentive also. Be ready for five hours on the road, but besides that it’s a nice tour.

Alexandria

Overall is good. The friendly driver, Mustafa, picked us up early in the morning, and we met our gentle tour guide, Eslam, in Alexandria. We have visited the majority of the places mentioned in the itinerary, except Pompey's Pillar (passed by outside only), which the ticket should be included in the package. even though we skipped one place, when we reached Cairo, it was already nighttime - 8pm.

Informative day tour around Alexandria

Eslam was a wonderful, knowledgeable guide. He took us around the main tourist sites in Alexandria. I wish we had more time to visit this historical city, but the day tour provided us a good glimpse of life there. For lunch, he brought us to a salted fish restaurant as that is the specialty in Alexandria. Luckily Eslam was able to adjust to our dietary preferences and provide a vegetarian-friendly meal. If you do have dietary restrictions, I recommend you communicate that in advance just in case (unlike me). Thank you Eslam!

Fantastic tour of Alexandria

This trip went as good as can be. We had a great driver and great tour guide who spoke fantastic English. She was very knowledgeable and was able to answer any questions we had. My father is elderly and struggled to keep up at times but our guide encouraged him to keep going and motivated him to continue on. It was a great experience for both of us and we would highly recommend for anyone!
