It was such an honor to join Ahmed & Shorouk for dinner specially during Ramadan. While the experience is a cooking class for us it was more important to have a chance to learn more about Egypt by visiting an everyday family and it was fantastic. From the initial messages you could tell that Ahmed was going to be a great host and he definitely is. He truly enjoys sharing with you about his and his family’s life, traditions and of course food. Shorouk and the girls are lovely and were a pleasure to meet and to talk with. We are so happy we did this experience and truly recommended to anyone looking to see more of Cairo or as Ahmed would call it the “hidden gems” of the city.

From the time we booked until the scheduled date, Ahmed and Shorouk were always available to answer any questions we had. Transport to our meeting point with Uber was very easy. We were warmly welcomed by all the family members with a welcome drink. We cooked together, chopped ingredients, learned how to prepare local dishes, laughed a lot, talked about all sorts of things and of course ate together. We also talked about our different cultures. We weren't strangers, but part of the family. Simply great! Don't think twice, just book this unique experience. This way you get to know the country and its people outside of the tourist bubble. No matter what questions or problems you have, Ahmed is happy to help you. And gives you tips for your time in Cairo. We are simply overwhelmed by the warmth. We will miss you and your two adorable daughters. Shokran, that we were allowed to be part of your family. It is simply unforgettable!

What can I say, this experience was the highlight of my holiday. Ahmed and Shorouk are extremely friendly and welcoming, they put you immediately at ease and give you an authentic taste of what Egyptian family life is like. They food was delicious and they have a passion for what they do. If you are looking for a non-touristy experience in Cairo, this is the one to book!

What an absolutely magical evening spent with Ahmed and his lovely family. They invited us into their home and we prepared a traditional Egyptian meal and ate it together as new Friends. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants an authentic experience with a lovely Egyptian family

The dinner was excellent: from the traditional murkheya soup, to just seeing and participating in the cooking, to the lovely conversations.. the whole evening was a blast. I’d give it 200 points out of 100, it was more than good. I did this experience already a few months ago and I still think of this evening very fondly.. wish I could do it again. Don’t hesitate!

Ahmed and his living family is everything you can imagine when trying to connect with the locals on a more personal level. From the moment we meet Ahmed at our meeting point, to the time we left him for the night we feel like family catching up on time missed even though this was our first time ever meeting him and his family. The food and conversation was authentic and tasted delicious. It was a real local experience we’re glad we had. In fact, we have remained in touch with each through WhatApp even after our trip to Egypt was over. I highly recommend you book this day experience!

Ahmed and Shorouk are the perfect hosts: even before we came to their house, we were in contact and they kindly offered their help in all questions we might have. The dinner was a true delight: typical Egyptian dishes prepated by Shorouk (with instructions how to do them I cannot wait to try them at home), with explanations to the history of the fishes by Ahmed. They are both great hosts, exceptionally warm and easy to talk to. And knowledgeable on all sorts of topics. I loved this opportunity to learn about the real Egyptian life of today. Also special thanks for accomodating the date of our dinner to fit in with Ramadan preparations and upcoming family celebrations - shukran!
