Consigliata

Posto spettacolare.

Amazing visit of the most stunning structures on our planet..

All started at 23:40 on Monday evening when I was picked up by the bus. I was one the first to get on the bus, which was good as I could choose my seat.. Then they collected the rest of us, and we had a couple of stops where we waited inside the bus until 2:30am, where we started our trip together with couple of more buses and police escort.. The trip was unnecessary longer because they stopped on a couple of places to mainly wait for something (or have cigarette). At the border between Suez governorate and South Sinai governorate, we stopped for our brake. We got out at some shop/restaurant. Once we got inside, we were not allowed to go back from the entrance by security, we were able to stay in the backyard which place was surrounded by police (for safety I guess) and It felt like we are prisoners, trabsported from one prison to another 😀😂😀😂😀😂. We got to the main event at around 11:00am, where we were split and my group met Ahmed, who was our guide. He was amazing and explained a lot when we were in the museum. Afterward we went for a boat trip which was nice and fun. Later on we got to a nice open garden restaurant to have lunch - tasty and I had a good time. Finally, we got to the outstanding pyramids. We were a little bit rushed there, and they offered us a camel ride or carriage to further the desert so we could take nice photoshoots from the pyramids. I paid 10 euro (+3 on tips), but instead of the 30 minutes we were told, we got a 12 minutes quick ride (we got just 300/400 meters from the starting point), and the guy rushed me to go back after just 3 minutes I got out of the carriage, so didn't have much time for better photos. If I knew the trip was so short, I would just walk by myself following the camels.. After we got to the Sphinx, and here we had more time, and I made a couple of good photos. Later on, we got to the oil/parfume shop and after the Papyrus shop(It was very interesting). At 18:15, we got back to the original bus and at 7pm we headed to leave Cairo and go back to Sharm el sheikh. Again, a lot of stopping and waiting to get to the hotel 3am. I am giving 5 stars because I had a good time, even though it was 27 hours trip. It is not actually the agency fault for the long trip and waits. We had like 8/10 buses with us, so maybe they do that as security measures, which is probably organized by the police..

Mixed experience.

Pros: - Visiting the pyramids was a once in a life time experience and our guide was very knowledgeable. We were able to climb down into the antechamber of the smaller Queen's pyramid and touch/walk on the first level of the first pyramid. We also visited at sunset and the view of the sun going down was incredible. - For 60GBPish we got transport there and back on a coach, entry to the Cairo Museum, lunch and a visit to the pyramids. - Despite being premier attractions in Egypt none of the places visited were too busy or hot. Cons: - We were prepared for a long coach trip, but the reality is the trip took over 10 hours each way and on a packed coach with one toilet. There were lots of random stops for up to an hour at a time with no information shared with guests as to why and for how long. We were aware of the police checks and the need to travel in convoy, but some of these stops seem to have no purpose and were never explained to us. There needs to be more emphasis on managing the expectations of guests and being transparent with them about the length of the journey and why you have stopped. - The papyrus and perfume shop stops at the end or a very long day. Neither of these are optional (you end up waiting on the coach otherwise) and are not appropriate to impose on tired tourists at the end of a long day. Our departure from Cairo was delayed by nearly 2 hours for these visits, which boil down to trying to get exhausted and travel weary travellers to part with extra money with selling tactics. Again there were no explanation on delays, how long we would be there and when we would leave. This unnecessary detour meant we got back to our hotel at nearly 5am and spent 28 hours out of 20 on a coach. Polite queries as to how long it would be before we left went unanswered or were answered very vaguely. Ultimately a number of people raised objections which appears to have led to them not trying to get the perfume shop group into the papyrus shop and vica versa after long "visits" in one or the other. This lack of communication, or managing expectations and enforced shop visits is not the norm with other operators we used later on in the trip. - The toilets at the rest stops are not fit for purpose and are health hazards. To be clear this is not the fault of the travel company and our coach toilet was satisfactory, but you have been warned. You will also need to bring your own toilet roll. - I would not recommend this trip for those with young children or those with health problems. Whilst, air conditioned, the coaches are cramped and being still for that long is painful even for the young and fit.

A long day but worth every minute

For sure would recommend this trip to anyone. The staff is very kind and will communicate with you to solve any concerns. As they mention the trip is long but don't worry as most of the time you will probably be asleep (as we were). It is very safe as a police was assigned to each bus. Upon arrival we were assigned a personal guide which was very friendly and explained to us everything we needed to know. A thing i should mention that is needed to be improved is during the second stop there are only 3-4 bathrooms for over 1000 people so get ready to hold in line. Would absolutely recommend the Nile boat trip and the camel ride is a MUST. (be prepared to leave some tips to the guy with the camel as they are very stubborn)

Mario the best

Very good trip well organised, had a personal guide Mario, what a chatacter. Mario is great company, very knowledgeable will listen to everything you say and act accordingly, not pushy like most. As for the sights, breath taking and amazing. Bus journey is long but we expected this to be the case, bus left Sharm 02:30 arrived Cairo 10 am, although hotel pick up was 01:15 against 01:00 promised, not complaining. A little minibus picked us from the hotel to a meeting centre where the big buses were. The bus people were a little disorganised, no communication of what's going on, but once they got the hang of it we were going.
