Cairo and Giza - Whistlestop Tour. What a great experience!
NB: Rewriting this review from my original one, as that one had spelling and grammar errors, and I want to add more information. There is no option to edit, so doing a new one.
I was very pleased with this tour, and I definitely feel that I got value for my money. During my trip to Egypt, I was based in Sahl Hasheesh, in a lovely hotel, around 12 miles from central Hurghada. I was picked up on time from my hotel, so a thumbs up already for the punctuality.
Once inside the minibus, we collected two more passengers, from another hotel along the main strip in Hurghada, before commencing the long road trip to Cairo/Giza. The total end to end journey time was around 8 hours, before getting to the outskirts of central Cairo, but minus the multiple security checkpoint stops and also four toilet/rest breaks, the pure driving time was around 6.5 hours, so not the worst road trip in the world, and its a cheaper option to go by road rather than flying. The roads are well constructed, and the vehicle was clean and had air conditioning. The driver(s) were professional, they made sure me and the two other passengers were ok at all times.
Upon arrival at Cairo, I was introduced to my English speaking guide for the day, a lovely gentleman by the name of Ibrahim Hamed who looked after me very well for seven hours whilst I went around the key points of Giza and Cairo. His knowledge of Egyptian history is exemplary, a true Egyptologist indeed. He was very humourous and kept the tour light-hearted whilst being informative, also giving me space and time to explore by myself. I always felt safe at all times.
The new Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) was the first stop. This museum is HUGE. The 2 hours I spent there did not do it justice, so I will definitely come back another time. You probably need at least TWO days minimum to get the best out of the new museum, so if you are really into archaeology, I suggest doing a separate standalone three or four day trip for Cairo and Giza.
After this, we were taken to the Egyptian Scribe Papyrus centre owner by Mahmoud Fouad, where I was afforded the opportunity to see how papyrus is made, and then I had the chance to purchase some artwork that was created on papyrus, there was plenty to choose from. I ended up buying something. You can use Visa/Mastercard/Amex if you prefer not to use cash.
From the Egyptian Scribe Papyrus centre, we then went for a buffet lunch, which was tasty and nutritious. Judging by how busy the restaurant was, (a lot of tourists inside) it is clearly a popular spot. My tour was conducted on a Friday, which being in a predominantly Islamic country meant that a lot of the locals had to go for lunchtime prayers, but this didnt impact on my tour at all.
Next stop was the highlight of the day, a trip to the Pyramids of Giza. This is where Ibrahim excelled himself, he made it into an unforgettable experience. Camel rides, going inside into the pyramids, getting up close and personal with the Pyramids and the Sphinx, were all incorporated. Make sure you take the time to soak up the environment, as this is the last standing wonder of the ancient world. It is a memory that will live with me forever.
The tour was topped off with a visit to a perfume factory, before getting back into the minibus for the long drive back to Hurghada and Sahl Hasheesh, which was a lot quicker than the outbound journey, as there were less security checkpoints, and we only stopped off once for a 40 minute toilet/rest/refreshment stop. The pure driving time on the way back was exactly 5 hours, so very manageable, a couple of movies on Netflix on your phone or tablet will help to while away the time.
During the whole day, Ibrahim took some amazing photographs of me on my smartphone and also on his smartphone as well, and I am eternally grateful for the effort that he made to give me a lasting experience.
Highly recommend this tour! A well deserved FIVE STARS! Bravo FTS 💪🏾

Wonderful Ancient Egypt getaway
Ahmed was amazing, I highly recommend this tour to get the most of the history of Ancient Egypt in just a single day. Welcoming pick up, great guiding skills, delicious food and thousands of years of history, all in one trip at an a more than affordable price. Everything was smoothly organised and we can’t find any drawbacks. A must when in Hurghada!

Also ich möchte wieder hin

Great trip!
Lovely family day out with Sarwat, our guide. We visited the Egyptian museum, sphinx, pyramids and did a Nile cruise. The bus drivers from Hurghada were great and looked after us.
