Overview

What you'll see

    2 hours

Meet your Egyptologist tour guide at the museum to begin your day. Visit the state-of-the-art Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), the world's largest archaeological museum with over 100,000 artifacts, or the ancient Egyptian Museum in Tahrir Square. Select your preferred museum when booking.

  3. The Egyptian Museum in Cairo

  7. Great Sphinx
    30 minutes

After visiting the pyramids of Giza, you will go to the Great Sphinx, by far the largest and most preserved sphinx. It consists of a human head on a lion's body. A rushed trip, structured around finding ways to make more money, not provide a great experience.

I am not one to leave negative reviews, but unfortunately I would have liked to have read this before booking with this operator: We were happy for the most part with Mario, however we were very disappointed with the trip being cut short so we could visit a perfume shop nobody was interested in seeing. We only ended up at the Sphinx for less than 10 minutes at a terrible photo spot and were very rushed because 'we couldn't be late for the bus'. Once we were at the bus, we were the first group there and waited for over an hour to actually leave (clearly in an attempt to try to sell us perfume, which is not why we booked this tour and was *not advertised*) - this very much put a dampener on the trip. While the guides may do this everyday, for many guests this is a one-in-a-lifetime trip to see sights that can only be found in Egypt. That's what the trip should be about, but unfortunately it didn't feel that way. Other things to be aware of: - The bus often takes longer than advertised, we understand this is due to security checks, however we learned this through reviews here, not from the tour leaders who provided no information on the many, sometimes 40 minute long, unexplained stops. - Lunch is included, drinks are not. Not even water. - The journey is made much worse by the driver playing loud music the whole 10 hour journey and talking loudly the whole way with the tour operator. - The optional boat trip is not really optional, rather a part of the trip just not included in the price. If you choose not to go, you simply wait on the nile bank alone until the rest of the group returns. No facilities available. - Lunch is included, drinks are not. Not even water.

Top trip with competent and kind people at a truly competitive price compared to tour operators!!!! Advise

All perfect!!!! Punctually picked up directly at the hotel!!!! The bus trip was quite tiring but it wasn't their fault but unfortunately it was due to the many controls at the checkpoints!!! But we knew so it is taken into account if you want to visit Cairo by bus!!!! Once we arrive we are welcomed by our Italian guide named Aziz!!! What can I say, an exceptional person with uncommon kindness and competence!!! Tour of the Egyptian museum, tour of the Nile (optional €10), lunch at a local restaurant then to the pyramids and sphinx!!! Finally, I stopped by the papyrus and essences shop but never insisted on purchasing them!!! Finally, I return to Sharm with a stop for a sandwich with chips at a cost of €5, always optional!!!

Wonderful trip

Well organised and well looked after. It was such a long journey but it went smoothly. Communication on the bus itself could have been better but not a huge issue as several different languages and nationalities were there. The pyramids were amazing and a sight to see. Big shout out to Mario our English speaking tour guide who was exceptional and looked after us extremely well

100% recommend!!

I absolutely loved this trip! Everyone from the tour agency was very nice and responsive. The bus picked us up at 1AM and we started our road trip towards Cairo. We first stopped and picked up the other passengers at their hotels which took about an hour to do. It was very nice that we had the option of being picked up right outside our hotel as reaching a common pick up spot wouldn’t have been easy. The drive to Cairo was long but overall comfortable. The bus was nice and the AC worked really well. We were escorted by police all the way there and everything looked very well planned and safe. Once in Cairo everyone got assigned to smaller groups according to the preferred language for the guided part of the tour. Our guide (Sarwat) was amazing! He gave us a very entertaining and informative tour of the Egyptian museum. After that we went to a boat tour of the Nile (which I highly recommend). We got to see Cairo from the water and it was an experience that made the trip even more fun! After that we head to a papyrus shop we’re they showed us how they turn it into paper. Then we had lunch at a delicious buffet restaurant! After that we went to the pyramids area, got a camel ride around the pyramids and saw the sphinx. Everything was so much better than I could’ve ever imagined. I did a lot of research on which tour would work best with what we were looking for and I can truly say that this one is one I’m going to take again in the future. I’m so glad we picked it! Special honorable mention goes to Sarwat: if you’re lucky enough to have him as your guide you’ll have the time of your life. He made us feel so included and taken care for. He taught us about culture, history and religion with funny anecdotes that we’ll forever remember. He made this experience the best experience ever!

Positives/negatives

Most definitely a trip to remember! It’s a real shame about it being a 9 hour coach journey from sharm. Got picked up at 12:15 at night and got back at 4am the next day. Really long day but we’ll worth it.

Great experience with a great guide from Cairo Tar Wat is definitely the best guide ever….not an easy trip do…

The trip in and out of Cairo is far too long…..too many stops with no explanation. The guide Tar Wat was amazing 6 stars for him.
