Overview

Experience the best of Aswan and be back in Luxor before bedtime with our private tour. Accompanied by an expert Egyptologist guide, you will visit the Edfu Temple dedicated to Horus, and the Temple of Philae dedicated to Isis on the way to Aswan. After lunch, you will explore the top attractions of Aswan, including the Aswan High Dam and the Unfinished Obelisk.

What you'll see

  1. Edfu Temple
    2 hours

Your Egyptologist guide will provide a comfortable transfer by air-conditioned vehicle from your Luxor hotel or Nile Cruise to Aswan, with a stop at the impressive Edfu Temple en route. Dedicated to the falcon god Horus, the temple's intricate reliefs offer valuable insight into ancient Egyptian religious and political beliefs.

  2. Aswan High Dam
    2 hours

It's time to take a break for lunch. Once you've finished your meal, we'll head to the impressive High Dam. This structure is considered one of the most significant accomplishments of the past century in Egypt, as it contains 18 times the material used in the Great Pyramid of Cheops. Not only does it provide the country with water and electricity, but it also protects Egypt from the destructive flooding of the Nile River.

  3. Temple of Philae
    2 hours

Next, you'll explore the Temple of Isis at Philae. Construction of the temple began during the reign of Ptolemy II and was completed under the Roman emperors. It was dedicated to the goddess Isis, who was considered the mother of all gods, the mother of Horus, and the consort of Osiris.

  4. Unfinished Obelisk
    1 hour

Continuing on, we will visit the Unfinished Obelisk, an impressive example of ancient Egyptian stone-cutting techniques. This obelisk is believed to have been commissioned by Queen Hatshepsut during the 18th Dynasty. After the tour, we will transfer you back to your hotel or Nile Cruise in Luxor.

Great day in Aswan

Loved our trip to Aswan with your guide Mena and driver Ahmed. We had plenty of time to look at everything we wanted and couldn’t have had a better day.

A long but nice day visiting Aswan from Luxor

We were picked up nice and early (510am) for the 3+ hour drive to Aswan from Luxor. We made stops at all the listed places spending plenty of time with the guide and then on our own at the temple of Horace in Edfu, as well as te temple of isis out on an island. It would have been nice if there had been an inclusive option as the various tickets added up quickly and I’d prefer to have it all paid for upfront. That being said, it was a nice day getting away from Luxor with our guide Mena and driver Ahmed, who made the trip enjoyable and quite a learning experience.

Fantastic trip not to be missed!

We had a lovely trip and saw lots including the Edfu and Kom Ombu temples. Our guide, Mena was absolutely wonderful and accommodated our request to extend our trip to Aswan where we saw the Philae temple, the High Dam and the Nubian Village. We throughly enjoyed the boat rides to these places as we could see much more and it was calmer on the water than on the road. However, our day could not have gone so well without our excellent guide, Mena who was knowledgeable, fun and so pleasant as well as our very skilled driver, Mostafa who expertly manoeuvred the difficult roads. They kept us comfortable and safe. All in all, highly recommended!

An amazing journey through Egyptian History & Mythology with Sayed

What an amazing experience!! Sayed Gamal is a super knowledgeable and experienced guide. He organized everything perfectly, knew so many interesting details about each place, and showed real passion for sharing the stories behind these sites. The buildings really come to life with the right guide! He was also very patient and kind, making the tour overall such a nice adventure. Highly recommend you join this tour or another one with Sayed!
