Overview

Experience the best of Aswan and be back in Luxor before bedtime with our private tour. Accompanied by an expert Egyptologist guide, you will visit the Edfu Temple dedicated to Horus, and the Temple of Philae dedicated to Isis on the way to Aswan. After lunch, you will explore the top attractions of Aswan, including the Aswan High Dam and the Unfinished Obelisk.

What you'll see

  1. Edfu Temple
    2 hours

Your Egyptologist guide will provide a comfortable transfer by air-conditioned vehicle from your Luxor hotel or Nile Cruise to Aswan, with a stop at the impressive Edfu Temple en route. Dedicated to the falcon god Horus, the temple's intricate reliefs offer valuable insight into ancient Egyptian religious and political beliefs.

  2. Aswan High Dam
    2 hours

It's time to take a break for lunch. Once you've finished your meal, we'll head to the impressive High Dam. This structure is considered one of the most significant accomplishments of the past century in Egypt, as it contains 18 times the material used in the Great Pyramid of Cheops. Not only does it provide the country with water and electricity, but it also protects Egypt from the destructive flooding of the Nile River.

  3. Temple of Philae
    2 hours

Next, you'll explore the Temple of Isis at Philae. Construction of the temple began during the reign of Ptolemy II and was completed under the Roman emperors. It was dedicated to the goddess Isis, who was considered the mother of all gods, the mother of Horus, and the consort of Osiris.

  4. Unfinished Obelisk
    1 hour

Continuing on, we will visit the Unfinished Obelisk, an impressive example of ancient Egyptian stone-cutting techniques. This obelisk is believed to have been commissioned by Queen Hatshepsut during the 18th Dynasty. After the tour, we will transfer you back to your hotel or Nile Cruise in Luxor.

A must add to your Luxor itinerary: Edfu & Kom Ombo

Highly recommend this company, Luxor Egypt Tours for all your needs, whether shared or private, but suggest private so you don't have to wait for others in the group. Very easy to communicate with the company, always responsive and very helpful with anything. Excellent driver and our guide Mena showed us all the important details and history of Edfu and Kom Ombo. 5 stars all around.

Aswan day trip from Luxor - would recommend

Amazing time with Mina my guide and our driver, both were very patient and allowed me to spend as long as I wanted at attractions. Very comfortable car ride and enough time at all spots. Also very informative on the tour.

Highly recommend

I did a private day trip from Luxor to Aswan as a solo female traveller and had a fantastic experience. Ahmed, the driver, was very safe and professional, which made me feel secure the whole way. Sayed, the tour guide, was incredibly knowledgeable, respectful, and attentive. I learned so much and felt well looked after. Highly recommended for anyone travelling in Egypt, especially solo travellers!

Day trip

A great day tour! Sayed Gamal was such a great guide. He was very knowledgeable and his English was great. He was also very good with our kids (we had 6 in our group of varying ages). Ahmed was our driver and did a great job! Overall a great experience.

Fun Road Trip

This was such a fun day trip. Edfu and Kom Ombo temples are a must see, and my guide Sayed Gamal had so much information to give. Salah was my wonderful driver and I highly recommended this tour! Mummified crocs are a definite highlight too.

Private day trip to Luxor/ Aswan

This was a wonderful experience with my guide Mena. He was knowledgeable about all history pertaining to the archeological sites and their significance. I really enjoyed myself. I am also thankful that he worked with my schedule so I can make it back on time to my next tour.

A good day but (too) busy!

It's been a busy day! First of all, I want to make it clear that the English guide and the driver were super friendly, professional and kind. Too bad the agency does not have a French guide at its disposal. However, this day is very complicated in terms of organization. First downside: admissions to the various sites, transport (felouque) and tips are not included in the price of the day which considerably increases the note. Similarly, there is no meal time and therefore the price of the meal is also not included in the price of the day. We left early, the driver picked us up at the hotel which is very appreciable! He had planned a cupcake on board, which is also appreciable. We didn't get a bottle of water despite the heat. However, no official snack (and we are not told to have a snack). We found something to eat at the Aswan Dam. Likewise, after visiting a two temple and the unfinished obelisk, no lunch is planned. We were hungry and the driver took us back to the restaurant around 2:00 pm (but the time is not scheduled for during the day and it is not specified to have a meal as we could have planned enough food in the car without problem). Thus we arrived at the last temple and we had only 40 minutes to visit as it closed and we had to pass the roadblocks before 6:00 pm. Which we did not manage to do but the driver is an excellent negotiator. Attention also, we will offer you a stop in a "perfumery" in Aswan which is obviously the city of essences. However, it is not a perfumery where the tour freely as we have the image in France. We are settled in a living room and a person (sympathetic to the matter) gives us a whole demonstration, offers us tea, and makes us feel and test products. We thought it would take 10/15min for us to bring back a little souvenir but it took 45 minutes not foreseen in the program. Similarly, no obligation to buy but well one person accompanies us in all our steps to buy ... In short, the day went well, but it is too tight in terms of organization (left at 6:00 in the morning, returned a little after 7:00 pm) and the ancillary costs are important. I would like to point out that the driver and guide were really excellent and we meet all our requests despite the schedule requirements. We warmly thank them for their professionalism.

Very Good

Professional guide and driver. Also, a very good way to explore Upper Egypt's culture. Two different guides in Edfu and Aswan were very well-educated about history. You also have a little flexibility with the tour program, unlike group tours. Very enjoyable.

Really recommended

I really recommend this tour, we had an aearly start to beat the crowds and due to the guide Mena's perfect timing we were able to spend a lot of time in the three temples basically alone. The temples are really brethtaking, specially Esna temple because all the original colors are emerging due to an archeological expedition that'staking place right now. Mena was a super knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide, and Salah really is the BEST driver. We spend a great day with them!
