Fascinating trip to Luxor!

Fascinating trip to Luxor! We booked a "Private day trip to Luxor in September 2024. The transfer with Toni was very pleasant and punctual and we felt very safe with him. Along the way, our guide and Egyptologist Prof. Naschaat Obaid Saad and explained us in advance in very good German a lot about the sights in Luxor. Nasch has incredible knowledge and we learned a lot about the meaning of ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics, visited gigantic temples and burial chambers with him and heard exciting stories about them. Since we arrived in Luxor very early, we were not surrounded by crowds and could enjoy the trip very much. We recommend Memnon Trips gladly.

Private Luxor Trip from Makadi Bay

We picked a private tour, given the length of the day. This was a great choice as we had a whole minibus to ourselves - especially as it was 44’c on the day of our visit. We were picked up at 0515 and after a brief introduction and explaining the initial drive to Safaga and passing through the checkpoint at 0600, we were left to sleep. We then saw the sunrise over the deserts, before stoping at Rest4 and had the option to get drinks/use toilets etc, before heading to Qena. Once travelling along to the Canal road to Luxor, Harbi our guide gave us a history and geography lesson to enhance our trip. First stop was the Karnak Temple, Harbi gave a tour and explained the different parts and age of the temples as well as the festivals held. We were then given as much time as we wished to explore the temples. We then were given the option of a set meal or buffet for lunch, which was followed by a boat trip along the Nile then across to the West Bank, where we took the minibus to the Mortuary Temple of Amenhotep III. We then passed the Alablasters on the way to the valley of the kings. Harbi explained how guides were no longer allowed inside, but gave us an explanation that came to life once inside (Harbi also gave us a warning not to interact with the people inside the tombs “offering help”). We also paid a little extra to visit Tutankhamen’s tomb, which was worth the money. Finally we visited the Temple of Hatshepsut. Before heading home, Harbi and the driver popped into a local shop and bought us all soda drinks of our choice - to supplement the free cooler of water and soda drinks we’d had for our journey/trip all day. We then headed back the same way we had come. As we were not sleeping for the last part, Harbi gave us some more information about the what was grown in the fields, the Bedu compounds, the phosphorus industry, the railway and Makadi Bay. We would definitely recommend this trip and Harbi and his drivers (we had two in the vehicle) were brilliant - we arrived back an hour earlier than expected too, but at no point were we rushed around or waiting for anything. Harbi also took many photos of us as a family. Family of 3, 2x Ad and 1 Ch (8yr)

Tour a 5 stelle!

2 days Luxor

A perfectly organized trip to Luxor!! All special requests were taken into account. Communication was absolutely problem-free, reminders of the pick-up time via WhatsApp, vehicle license plate number given in advance. German-speaking tour guide with enormous expertise and tips on the little things that you can quickly get over on your own, e.g. in the trenches. Absolutely recommendable.

Great trip with a great driver and an outstanding tour guide

We were picked up at the hotel on time shortly after 4 a.m. Toni is a very good and courteous driver. We felt very safe with him at all times. Just before Luxor, our tour guide Nasch got on. We had never experienced so much warmth and knowledge in one person. Not only was he able to explain everything to us very clearly, as a professor of hieroglyphs he was also able to read everything to us in the temples and burial chambers. Since he knew the processes of the major tour operators, he always planned our tour so that we were there before the crowds at almost all stops. The lunch was typically Egyptian and very delicious. The trip was a complete success and we can 100% recommend it.

Great trip with lots of information and a resourceful travel guide

We had a great trip to Luxor from Marsa Alam. The journey was a bit too fast for us (we told the driver that), but at least we had the advantage that we were one of the first groups to arrive in Luxor and were therefore able to enjoy the day's program without the large crowds. This was mainly thanks to the good tips from our tour guide, who adapted the tour a little for us (Luxor instead of Karnak Temple, early lunch at 10:30 a.m. - but OK if you got up at 3:30 a.m.! Valley of the Kings at lunchtime). Our tour guide spoke extremely good German and, as a former professor of Egyptology, was very knowledgeable about history/art history. We would be happy to recommend Memnon Reisen.

A more than fantastic day trip!!!

We took part in the "Luxor private tour" day trip as a couple. We were picked up by our driver in front of the hotel lobby at 4:30 am sharp and drove to Luxor for about four hours. At the Karnak Temple, we were greeted very warmly by our guide Malek and began the tour. At each location on our tour, we received detailed information from him and afterwards we were given time to explore on our own, where we were able to take lots of beautiful pictures. Throughout the entire tour, our well-being was always taken care of and, for example, cool drinks were always provided. Lunch on the Nile promenade in Luxor was also great and, above all, plentiful. We would particularly like to praise our guide Malek. A really fantastic and friendly person who speaks German like his native tongue and, in addition to his excellent knowledge of Egyptology, also has so much knowledge of, for example, the German way of life and history that the conversations were never boring. My wife and I agreed that it was one of the best holiday experiences we've had so far and definitely the best tour with the best guide. Many thanks again to Malek and the whole team!
