This single column standing on a rocky hilltop in the middle of Alexandria has nothing to do with the Roman Consul and General Gaius Pompey who was Julius Caesar’s rival in a civil war and was murdered by a Ptolomaic pharaoh in 48 BC when he fled to Alexandria. This legend was started by Crusaders, who thought the 100-foot (30 meter) red Aswan granite pillar marked his burial site. this will be the one of the famous library in Egypt,The Great Library of Alexandria in Alexandria, Egypt, was one of the largest and most significant libraries of the ancient world. The Library was part of a larger research institution called the Mouseion, which was dedicated to the Muses, the nine goddesses of the arts.[10] The idea of a universal library in Alexandria may have been proposed by Demetrius of Phalerum, an exiled Athenian statesman living in Alexandria, to Ptolemy I Soter, who may have established plans for the Library, but the Library itself was probably not built until the reign of his son Ptolemy II Philadelphus. The Library quickly acquired many papyrus scrolls, due largely to the Ptolemaic kings' aggressive and well-funded policies for procuring texts. It is unknown precisely how many such scrolls were housed at any given time, but estimates range from 40,000 to 400,000 at its height. Please note that it is closed on Friday.

Early amphitheaters date from the republican period,[1] though they became more monumental during the imperial era

Engy was a knowledgeable tour guide showing me the highlights of Alexandria. She was pleasant, and the trip was easy-paced and worthwhile with getting to see the sites as well as the Mediterranean. Lunch at the seafood restaurant with fresh fish and shrimp was a real treat, overlooking the sea. Also the driver, Matopsa, was kind and ensured my comfort the whole trip. It didn’t feel like a 3-hour trip, but went by rather quickly.

Manal was a wonderful host! She's very experienced and knows her history. She was able to point out a lot of interesting details at all the sites we saw that connected to the moments in history we were discussing. She gave us space to explore sites on our own, but was always within reach. The restaurant she took us to for lunch had delicious options for both myself and my dad who is vegetarian. The view at the restaurant was incredible as well.

Awesome day spent in Alexandria our tour guide Asmaa was very knowledgeable and friendly. Asmaa was considerate and aware of limitations some people in our group have, she would always stop to make sure we were ok and see if we have any questions. Asmaa has a very friendly and vibrant personality. Our driver was friendly and attentive and kept our personnel items safe while we enjoyed our tour.

The trip to Alexandria was one for the ages. Without a guide this trip would not have been so informative and exciting. For our tour Manal was our guide. She is extremely knowledgeable about the history of Egypt, especially Alexandria. We enjoyed the trip to the synagogue, which has great history and was really amazing to know how people treated the after life with same zest as life itself. The trip to the Alexandria library was a run through the history of the world. It was amazing to see the knowledge from all parts of the world consolidated in one location. We also went on a yacht trip which was really relaxing. Finally the trip to the Citadel showed how the city was protected and how the soldiers were taken care of. Our guide Manal and our driver Khalid were extremely courteous, friendly, and caring. We wish to meet them hopefully the next time we visit the country. All in all a trip that can 100% be recommended.
