Much more than just learning about the stages to the perfect pyramid

Akram and our driver took good care of me all day. Akram‘s explanations were detailed and profound. He also had a good sense when it was time to give me a rest because of my walking disability or when I simply needed some time on my own. We could also openly discuss cultural influences and differences and I certainly learned more about Egypt apart from his magnificent ancient history. Thank you Akram for directing me to a upscale gift shop to buy a birthday present for one of my grandchildren.

Day tour to Saqqara, Dahshur & Memphis.

Ahmed was an excellent guide. Knowledgable, friendly and humorous. Explained everything. We saw all 3 sites with plenty of time to explore. Rounded off by a lovely lunch. Great trip.

It was good, not great

The guide was young and somewhat inexperienced. She provided helpful information but I wish she had made a few additional suggestions such as these: going inside the Bent pyramid at Dahshur is very time consuming and very strenuous, and not particularly worth the effort, in my opinion. And the best photo of the Black pyramid needs to be taken from the Bent pyramid area because you cannot get closer. By the time she told me that it was too late to get a photo. Also it seemed like we did not see some of the more important things at Saqqara...I know we had limited time there but I wish my options had been better explained.

Excellent experience

Had a wonderful day with Khloud. She is extremely knowledgeable and allowed us to decide what we wanted to see/do. Didn’t feel rushed or pressured which was really important to us! 10/10 recommend!

A really nice and interesting daytrip!

Our rating would be 3,5 stars. We really liked the trip. The visit to Memphis was a bit short, otherwise we had enough time to do everything at the sites. Our guide Reem explained things well, but we do have a tip for her: to speak up a bit more and articulate more specifically. To avoid having to repeat things. She also took many nice pictures of us, which is great!

This tour is a MUST

I really loved the tour. The sights were awesome and Khloud was a great guide. Competent, knowledgeable, nice and funny. She gave me all the time I needed for exploring, taking pictures or shopping. Without her, it would not have been half as good. The car was also very nice and the driver Masbah knew what he was doing.

Fabulous experience

We visited with Mariam as a guide, without a doubt, the best guide we have enjoyed in Egypt. Just as a teacher can fascinate you with a subject, she gets it with a culture.

Some good some not worth while

IN TRUTH, Memphis was very disappointing . The only thing worth seeing was if enormous prices statue of Rameses 2nd in the museum found in a ditch in late 1800’s. The rest is local stall sellers selling touristy things. Hayward and Dahsur was worth the visit.

Breathtaking views + very competent guide

We did a full-day tour to Saqqara, Dahshur and Memphis, and it honestly turned out to be one of the most beautiful days of our trip. First of all, our guide, Ahmed, was excellent. Very knowledgeable, very well prepared, and genuinely passionate about what he was explaining. He showed us the most interesting parts of each site and, something I really appreciated, he never rushed us. We had plenty of time to walk around, take pictures and just enjoy the atmosphere calmly. Also, he is really funny. His English was very, very good. The only small thing to improve might be the accent — but that’s completely understandable, and whenever we didn’t catch something, he was more than happy to repeat it slowly and clearly. On top of that, he was also very friendly and easy to talk to, which makes a big difference when you’re spending the whole day together. As for the sites themselves: Saqqara and Dahshur were absolutely breathtaking. Personally, I found them even more impressive than Giza. The pyramids there are smaller, but they’re not crowded together and not surrounded by chaos. Seeing a pyramid standing alone in the middle of the desert creates such a powerful and almost surreal atmosphere — it feels much more authentic and peaceful. In Dahshur we went inside the Bent Pyramid (the one with the different inclinations). It was definitely a unique experience, but honestly… it’s probably not worth the back pain from going down and up those narrow passages 😅 (even though Ahmed did warn us!). Finally, Memphis: the open-air museum is worth it mainly for the huge statue of Ramses II and a couple of other interesting statues. The rest is not particularly impressive, but since the visit only takes around 30 minutes, it fits perfectly into the day without feeling too long or tiring. Overall, it was a very well-organized tour with an outstanding guide and incredible archaeological sites. I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who wants to see something beyond the classic Giza pyramids and experience a more peaceful, atmospheric side of ancient Egypt.
