A fantastic & highly recommended experience at Alexandria

Before jumping into the subject, I asked myself WHY I had chosen Alexandria as my first “ Tour” in Egypt . Not only have I been obviously fascinated by the blend of Greek & Egyptian cultures, but also somehow I was anxious to eyewitness to which extent & how this “ melting pot “ has endured until our present day. Fortunately, Kom El Shokafa remains there to remind us upon those glory days. To my eye, it was the tour’s best sight, anyway, everything regarding this complete tour was enticing & cleverly planned to give us the best impression, saving time to enjoy all the spots, as much as possible. I mean, everything beyond perfection - thanks to the dear driver ( Mr Miyse) and above all, the highly professional, highly talented & perfectionist local tour guide the dear Ms Dinayra. She is a prodigy into a multitude of senses - the dear guide knows everything by her heart and conveyed as much as she could into perfect English. The Citadel, the remarkable modern library & the lighthouse are also amazing and fascinating places to visit. Moreover, excellent experiences at the restaurant ; Egyptian vegan meals at their best - and at the selected souvenirs’ store ( money saving & high quality at the same spot. Thanks a lot to the dear Guide - to the highly skilled driver & once more to the entire Viator’s team for one more amazing tour & a riveting collection of pictures & memories.

The tour teaches you alot about Alexandria. Guide was very knowledgeable and caring. She knows a lot about the history and was really down to earth. She wasn’t rushing us through and gave us enough time to explore. We did this as a private tour. The driver was very good as well and navigated around town. He had the car nice and cool during the hot weather. The guide took us to the Fish House for lunch. This restaurant was very good as well. Also included in the tour was a chance to visit a perfume and papyrus store. Definitely worth the stop. We bought items at great prices.

Alexandria

The driver was great, but everything else was terrible. Since I speak Arabic, the guide tried to save money by buying my entry tickets as an Egyptian (the price for Egyptians is way lower than for a foreigner) which caused problems at every venue because they asked for proof of citizenship. I booked this tour from Canada with entry fees included, so the guide was basically trying to scam her own people and company. Her explanations were awful; I couldn't understand a word. We felt rushed, and the lunch she ordered was terrible. And seriously, what's a trip to Alexandria without a walk along the Corniche by the sea? I'd recommend finding a better way to experience Alexandria. Our tour was on May 12th, and we were picked up from Giza.

Saying and doing are 2 different things

driver coughs repeatedly without cover. Due to healing mobility issues I chose 3 sites and skipped 2. Online it says each stop is 1 hout. Stop 1 I had to be back in 25 minutes. Stop 2 He kept driving, saying there's nothing to see there. So i had to tell him to turn around. Had to be back in 20 minutes. Stop 3 Alexandria Library, was given 1 hour, could have spent more time there. Found a lunch place yet that was on Egyptian time so we went somewhere else. Then he said, "If we went to my place we would have already eaten." He is not nice to restaurant staff. He takes a cigarette from my pack that is laying on my bag. While he is doing it, he says, "I am going to take a cigarette ok." We eat, me thinking we stop at the restaurant, i wanted to pick up a fish sandwich, he just keeps on walking. Then he snaps his fingers at me to pay 10 egp for the parking while i just paid for his food. On the way back he has time to stop at his friends place for coffee. He had to add, "Normally I would have passed here sooner." The closer we got to the hotel, the more lively he became. Interesting excursion to Alexandria

The trip is long but comfortable because it goes by highway and comfortable car. Halfway there is a stop for breakfast (at the client's expense, of course) and going to the bathroom. The guide was very friendly and told us many interesting things. It was a shame not to enter the Roman theatre and not to stroll along the promenade (cirniche).
