A Painful Experience with People Lacking Basic Decency

Perhaps because the price was relatively cheap, I ended up stuck on a group tour with people who frankly shouldn’t qualify for group tours at all. It was a massive waste of both time and emotional energy. The worst were an Italian woman and a Spanish man traveling as a couple, who had absolutely no concept of time. The guide’s time management was also a complete mess. If you want to arrive early at Abu Simbel and spend at least two hours there, this is not the tour for you. And if you have any schedule in Aswan afterward, you should absolutely not choose this tour. To begin with, the claim that the entire trip takes 8 hours is simply false. Time management was disastrous. What was supposed to be a 3-hour one-way trip took nearly 4–5 hours. Because of delays at checkpoints and the “Trenitalia villain woman,” we arrived late, and the tour tried to give us only one hour at Abu Simbel. I had to complain just to extend the time slightly, but even then, the only people who actually used the full two hours were the same individuals who were habitually late, including that Italian woman. The pickup time was confirmed as 3:45 a.m., yet the driver showed up after 4:00. He had already picked up only one person before us, which I could still tolerate. But we lost nearly an hour at checkpoints on the way, and although the rest stop was supposed to be 10 minutes, it turned into over 30 minutes because of the Italian woman. For some reason, the driver also let other buses go first, resulting in us being the last group to arrive at the temple among all group tours. After arriving at the temple, the guide spent meaningless time to double check who paid for a ticket in advance, lost 10 min even though I was not related. Thankfully, the ticket line wasn’t long, but the temple was already packed like a fish market, making it nearly impossible to enjoy properly. On the way back, the driver detoured to random places at least twice claiming to look for a gas station. It was nothing but pain and endurance from start to finish. Don’t make the mistake of booking this tour just because it seems cheaper. The price reflects the lack of basic manners among the participants. The van itself was in decent condition, but the seats were extremely narrow. After this terrible experience, the guide naturally asked for tips and a good review.

A Good Option to Visit and Extraordinary Place

What an extraordinary place to visit. This tour was a very reasonably priced option with a pretty comfortable van for the 6+ hours of driving, great drivers and adequate but hardly outstanding guides. They picked me up on time - a good thing when you are standing outside at 4 in the morning. Recommended as a viable option.

Tours with a lot of room for improvement

The journey to Absimbel was supposed to be three hours, but it took 3.5 hours on the outbound and 4.5 hours on the return journeys. The meeting time was also changed from 4:00 to 3:30 last minute, but we ended up picking him up at 4:00. As it was a shared tour, we waited for other guests and left Aswan at 6:00. I felt that prior contact with customers was bad. Personally, it was tough because my afternoon schedule fell apart. The Temple of Absimbel itself is worth a visit, so I think I should have taken a private tour.

The tour was very good! I'm worried before the tour starts

After I booked, I tried to have multiple conversations on this site, but they didn't respond, so I tried to have a conversation on the what's app, but they didn't respond, and I got an apology email after the tour ended. I really wanted to change the pickup location, but I couldn't. Also, the pick-up location you originally specified was wrong and you were picked up at another hotel on the same property. The tour itself was very good, and the drivers, including our guide Emad, were very responsive! He always looked at us while we were on tour and took pictures without asking for tips. There was no weird push-pulling throughout the tour, and not one bad thing. I was very anxious about the liaison before the tour started, so I hope that will improve.

Great temple, well-organized tour

Our tour started at 3:45 am when our tour representative Hazem came to the hotel to pick us up. The minivan we rode in was very spacious and comfortable. After picking up everyone , we set out at 4:15 am and spent about 3.5 hours on the road. After arriving at the temples at about 8 am, our guide Waleed Adnan gave us a lecture on the history of Abu Simbel, the Nubian people, and king Ramesses II. As a Nubian himself, Waleed was very knowledgeable on both Nubian writings and Egyptian hieroglyphs. He also speaks 5 languages, which is very impressive. After that, we had 1 hour free time to explore both temples, and started to head back at around 10 am. The sun was already scorching at 9 am, so it really makes sense to be here early.

Avoid this company!!!

Pick-up at our hotel was scheduled for 4am. At about 5am, we tried to reach the driver, no answer, the company, no answer either. We joined TripAdvisor customer service and they too were not able to join the company. Finally, we waited until 6am at the curbside as requested by TripAdvisor without the bus arriving. We lost the opportunity to see Abu Simbel and the money for the pre-purchased electronic tickets. The event took place 48 hours ago and we still don’t have any follow-up on whether we will be refunded.
