Top trip!

Together with my son of 12 years the day trip to Luxor done. Picked up at 4am sharp by Mohammed and our driver, both very friendly and Mohammed speaks very fluent Dutch. Had several explanations about Egypt, long drive to Luxor (5h on the way) but gives you a nice picture of ordinary life in Egypt. Our driver (the name escapes me for a moment) drove very well, not a moment felt unsafe! Visited various Temples as well as the Valley of the Kings. Muhammad is always present and gives you some explanation. He also answers your questions but also does not flood you with unnecessary information. Also stopped at a papyrus shop where you get some explanation and can buy papyrus drawings. Very nice drawings that you pay a bit too expensive, but considering the trip was not too expensive (EUR 130/person) and considering that our guide and driver probably also received something on this, this was not a problem for us. Around 4pm we went to the hotel where we were dropped off again at 9pm. I also gave them both a nice tip given the very pleasant day. Can recommend it to everyone to book with them, price / quality in order!

Great tour!

After a week-long liveaboard, I took a day tour to Luxor from Port Ghalib. It was a very comfortable ride to Luxor, and the tour guide was excellent! Overall a very good experience.

Day trip Luxor

Via Excursiesegypte.nl booked in advance and deposit paid. Later contacted via email about the further processing. At 04.00 we were picked up by our guide and 2 drivers from the hotel. From here we went via Safaga through the desert to Luxor via Quina, you drive 60 km along dr east bank of the Nile which is an experience in itself. Tip : Bring a pillow to sleep in the taxi. In between they make a stop where you can pee and eat your breakfast box. Prices for a drink +/_ 2 euros. There are also salesmen who sell stuff. At 9.30 we arrived at Karnak. Achmet arranged the tickets and told the others about the temple after which we got some free time to walk around. Achmet provided some nice pictures. After Karnak we were given the choice to visit the papyrus museum, this is what we did. You will briefly see how they make papyrus (with free drink) and then you can look around the store. With of course the idea that you buy something. If you don’t want this, I would skip this step, because we Dutch can’t escape from such a situation without buying something 😉. Then the choice was to go one by taxi to the west (45 min) or by boat to the other side (25 euros extra) or possibly to the Banana Island. The crossing to the Nile was fun, the kids were allowed to sail themselves. The restaurant was simple but food was okay. Compared to our resort I would even describe it as good. Drinks you have to pay for yourself but were not expensive 30 EGP (1.5 euros). Afterwards you will leave for the Valley of the Kings, as with all attractions you will first be guided through a tunnel with vendors, you will not escape that. Achmet has indicated to us which graves are most interesting. You are free to choose which 3 you take. Some you have to pay for extra. Tip : You can take pictures with your mobile without paying (no flash) from August. You also cannot escape the unsolicited advice of "friendly people". Play the game and tip them. We were even pulled into the sarcophagus 😂. If you experience something unpleasant ask Achmed to help! After that I went to the effigy museum. Same concept as papurys. Very funny, they make a party of it. Finally, past the temple of HotChickenSoup. You will also get an explanation here but you can also walk around freely Achmet was able to answer many questions well and was pleasant to deal with. The 2 drivers also had a rough day for which respect. They drive like idiots here for our understanding, but take it from me... they all do! In short. Totally awesome. I highly recommend!

We were afraid - but only happiness!!!

We went through Marsa Alam Tours to take a private family tour of Luxor (2 adults, 1 child). Our driver supposed to pick us up from the hotel at 4am, arrived only at 5.30am (he was not from the area and got lost looking for the hotel). However, the agency was already available at 4:20 in the morning and did its best to reassure us and make sure the driver finally arrived. Given the late morning, we were afraid that we would not be able to complete the day’s visits, or that we would have to shorten them. Nevertheless the agency and the French-speaking guide Hoda, did everything for us to spend a day in joy and good humor. Hoda is an Egyptologist who loves her job and always has an anecdote to tell. She made our day a success, even the 5 year old loved it! As for our driver Mandou (see photo), he did not hesitate to make a small detour so that we could withdraw money as well as buy water and snacks for the return trip. Moreover, the road was very pleasant in his company. Frankly, if we had to do it again, we would resign right now!

On top! 😀

We spent a day in Luxor on a private tour. Driver Mahmoud was on schedule, attentive, always attentive, conscientious all along the way. Arriving in Luxor, our guide Hoda was waiting for us and what a guide, a happiness, rich in knowledge, she made us relive Egypt and dream. We recommend Looking forward to seeing them again on a future trip. Laurent and Christine

Our Luxor day trip

It all started on the wrong foot. The van came late despite clear confirmation of time. However upon pick-up, things change on the plus side. In the next 4.5 hours, we had a great and fun travel. While Osama drove carefully, his partner Sameh is a smooth talker. With the van on our own, we spread and lay comfortably on every row of seat in every imaginable way. In Luxor, we fetched Hoda, our guide. She's not only talkative which is a good thing, but also her talk is fully laden with quality information. I was impressed further knowing that she is the Only woman tourist guide from Luxor and finished her egyptologist abroad. Yeah, woman-power! So the moment you see them (Colossi of Memnon, Temple of Hatshepsut, valley of the Kings, Nile cruise and Karnak temple), you'll be awe-struck visually and mentally. Her narration flies you to that period, puts you in context and invites your imagination fills the gaps, colors and gossips of the time. I highly recommend Hoda and the Marsa alam tours. They respond quickly. Gives you fair price specially for family or groups. The knowledge and passion of the guide is like Nile overflowing on its banks. And we are like the desert so dry and thirsty to be quenched. In my case, my family visited Luxor in July. It was hot (40C at peak) but there was zero queue. And we succeeded respecting our schedule. We started at the open space (Hatshepsut's and valley of the Kings) in the morning when temperature was still relatively cool. Then spent the afternoon under the shades and the insides of the remaining tour sites. And by the way, we brought 3 liters of water per person, umbrella, caps, sun cream, sun glasses, light and bright clothes, scarves and buff.

Visit Luxor

Very good, very interesting francophone guide. Drive in good conditions, air conditioning, unlimited water, delicious and very hearty lunch in a local restaurant. We visited the temple of Karnac, 3 tombs in the Valley of the Kings..., a papyrus shop with explanations and demonstrations, a stonemason's shop (decorative objects...). Very happy with our day.

history came alive

what a fantastic day out. We had a private car with driver, en route we collected our very knowledgeable guide. Our guide's suggestions were perfect, we even avoided the alabastar factory so I could spend more time in the Valley of the Kings. Nothing was too much trouble for our driver or guide, the whole day was well organised - thanks so much
