West Bank – The Necropolis of Thebes Valley of the Kings Your journey begins at the legendary Valley of the Kings, the final resting place of Egypt’s most powerful pharaohs. This UNESCO World Heritage site is a must-see, featuring elaborately decorated tombs that reveal the splendor of ancient Egyptian beliefs and artistry. During your visit, you’ll explore four royal tombs, including: The Tomb of Ramses IV – Famous for its vivid astronomical ceiling decorations. The Tomb of Ramses III – Featuring intricate wall reliefs and historical inscriptions. The Tomb of Merenptah – The grand burial site of Ramses II’s son. Tomb of King Tutankhamun (Tut), known for its historical significance and the treasures it once held.

  2. Tomb of King Tutankhamun (KV62)
    15 minutes

Entrance fees to the tomb of Tutankhamun (300.00 EGP) (optional) King Tutankhamun, the most famous king in the world. This young king from the New Kingdom was around 10 years old when he ascended the throne and died when he was only 19. You will get the chance to be face to face with his royal mummy in his tomb in the Valley of the Kings

  3. Tomb of Ramses III
    15 minutes

The tomb of Ramesses III, designated as KV 11, is a complex system in the Valley of the Kings. It has been known since antiquity, the wonderful decorations include colourful painted sunken reliefs featuring the traditional ritual texts (Litany of Ra, Book of Gates etc) and Ramses before the gods. Unusual here are the secular scenes, in the small side rooms of the entrance corridor, showing foreign tributes, such as highly detailed pottery imported from the Aegean, the royal armoury, boats and, in the last of these side chambers, the blind harpists that gave the tomb one of its alternative names: ‘Tomb of the Harpers’

  4. Tomb of Merenptah
    15 minutes

In Egyptian mythology, Ptah is the demiurge of Memphis, god of craftsmen and architects. In the or simply in its falcon form of the new deity, began to be placed in tombs to accompany and protect the dead on their journey to the West of Luxor .Tomb 8, which is located in the Valley of the Kings, was the burial place of the Pharaoh Merneptah and is the model of royal tombs Merneptah was a son of Ramesses II and Queen Isis-Nofret.the tomb was discovered by Howard Carter in 1903. Of coursethere is a material decrease in the number of lateral rooms, and a dramatic increase in the height of the corridors and rooms. He did away with the jogged axis used since the time of Horemheb and instead built the entire tomb on a single axis. Also, for the first time, the entrance was made considerably wider than earlier tombs .

  5. Tomb of Ramses IV
    25 minutes

The tomb of Ramses IV (KV 2) in the Valley of the Kings is rather different than most other tombs built here. This tomb is by far the most spectacular of the other tombs you will see. The hieroglyphics on the wall depict scenes from the Litany of Ra, Book of the Dead, Book of Caverns, the Book of the Heavens, Book of Amduat, and the Book of the Night. The blue and white colors on the walls inside the burial chamber are very vibrant and you can see the king's sarcophagus made of rose-colored granite. There is also a beautiful scene of goddess Nut on the ceiling, where she is depicted swallowing the sun, and it traveling through her stomach, for Nut to give birth to it. The tomb has so much colour and detail even the ceiling above the sarcophagi with its goddess Nut stretching across the space. The sarcophagus is one of the largest in the valley, even though some of the paintings have deteriorated this is one of the most decorated.

  6. Temple of Hatshepsut
    1 minute

After visiting the tombs you will be transported to the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut (Deir el Bahari), the only woman ever to reign over Egypt as Pharaoh. Luxor full day tour with Balloon ride with friends and family

We were a group of 7 who pre-bookes via booking.com/ viator. Early start at 5am pick up ready to see the sunrise whilst in the Balloon. The transfer took us close to the valley of the kings where we board the Balloon. There was some hesitation about the Balloon ride within the group but I can say we felt very safe and the ride was very smooth. The view over the valley of kings was such a magical moment for us all. Just be aware that there are many children at the Balloon camp trying to sell you their wears and watch out for touching the birds as they will want money for doing so. Once off the Balloon ride we met Hassan our egyptologist guide and driver. Hassan was very knowledgeable about all the locations we visited and his English was very good so we can understand him well. It was a hot day, over 40 degrees C. The locations we visited were well worth seeing in the boiling heat. Vally of the kings is a really special place- i am however concerned that in a 1000 years the site may well be eroded given there is little protection in the tombs from the environment and tourist's. Lunch was amazing - we've had some pretty poor Egyptian food on our trip but Hasson took us to a place where it was fresh and delicious. All the locations we visited we're mind blowing just to think of all the hard work these ancient people put in to construct such amazing buildings. Thank you Hassan for making our day so special.

Solo Tour

Did a solo tour with Hassan. He provided great insight into each site before entering which allowed for a really in-depth experience. The lunch was also really great, a nice break between west and east Luxor. Would definitely book again, highly recommend.

Good experience, but be ready for a long day and extra costs

Overall, this was a very good tour — the guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the day enjoyable. The transport was comfortable and everything ran smoothly. Just be aware that the entry fees for the sites are not included and add up to around €50 in total, including the small transportation inside the monuments and drinks with lunch. It’s still worth it, but good to know in advance so you can budget properly. The day itself is quite long — if possible, it would be even better split into two shorter tours, since there’s a lot to see and do. Other than that, it was a great experience and a nice way to explore everything in one day with a reliable agency and guide.

Exceptional Full-Day Luxor Tour with Ragab & Abdul

We recently took the “Private Full-Day Luxor Highlights – East and West Banks” tour, and it was by far one of the best excursions we’ve ever done. From start to finish everything was outstanding. First of all, our pre-tour communications with Ragab were excellent. He responded promptly, clarified all the details and made the logistics very smooth, which gave us peace of mind from the get-go. Once the tour started, our guide Abdul absolutely stole the show. His passion for Egyptian history is incredible, and you could tell it wasn’t just rote facts: he has genuine, strong ties within the local community, which added real depth and authenticity to his storytelling. As well his recommendations for sites and optional add-ons was perfect. My two teenagers, who can sometimes zone out on tours, stayed fully engaged the entire day thanks to how dynamic and involved he made the experience. With Abdul, the sites didn’t just feel like check-boxes. At each stop he wove in compelling narrative, historical context, interesting anecdotes and local insight. He brought the ancient world alive in a way you rarely see. We’ve been on many tours over the years, and this one truly felt like a different level. In short: this isn’t just a good tour, it’s a must-do when you’re in Luxor. If you’re on the fence, book it. With Ragab’s seamless coordination and Abdul’s exceptional guiding, it was a day our whole family will remember. Highly recommended!
