Overview

Explore the ancient culture of Luxor and Aswan and the beauty of the River Nile. The Nile was the lifeline of ancient Egyptian civilization and today the banks of the river are dotted with ancient tombs and temples. Lying 420 miles south of Cairo, Luxor is the most dramatic historical site in Egypt - and is often referred to as the world’s greatest open air museum. Luxor is the modern day name for Thebes, the ancient capital city of the New Kingdom Pharaohs. Today, Luxor is home to more than half of Egyptian antiquities and is a must-see destination for any visitor to Egypt. Aswan is the “Jewel of the Nile”. Pink and grey granite thrusts upward through the Nubian sandstone, forming mountains, cliffs and jagged outcrops. The Nile runs clear and cold here, and endless waves of golden sand swirl against its banks.

Happy Honeymoon with Hamdi the Great!

If you are visiting Luxor and Aswan, you need Hamdi as your guide. Even with a flight delay, he navigated us through Karnak and Luxor temples like a pro, beating the crowds and sharing incredible insights into Egyptian history. He is patient, takes great photos, and is incredibly thoughtful, he even helped me track down a hair straightener! Hamdi is energetic, kind, and knows everything there is to know about Egypt. Don't book anyone else!

Great Nile cruise thanks to great tour guide

Besides being always punctual, which is not a given in Egypt, our tour guide George has a long history as a tour guide (17 years). He was very knowledgeable about the history behind the temples between Luxor and Aswan and came across as a very likeable person who was pleased to share his country’s rich heritage with us. I would strongly recommend George as a tour guide for the Nile cruise.

Magical cruise on the Nile!

If I could rate this cruise 6-stars I would… It was an absolutely incredible trip and one I will be recommending to all friends and family. The whole booking process from start to finish with Luxor and Aswan Travel was simple, efficient and great value. We spent four nights aboard the Steigenberger Minerva travelling from Luxor to Aswan and the whole experience was truly memorable. The boat was beautiful, the staff couldn’t have been more helpful, the facilities excellent and the food in the restaurant was of high quality. Best of all was our private tour guide for the four days - Mahmoud Hassan. His knowledge of ancient Egypt and the sites that we visited was second to none. Every day we came away from our visits with so much more understanding of what we’d seen than we otherwise would have. Not only that, he was friendly, punctual and adapted his approach to make sure it was interesting for our children (aged 9 and 12). Our cruise simply would not have been the same without him with us.

Expert tour with Mohamed Kamal Allam

Mohamed Kamal Allam was our guide over 4 days from Luxor to Aswan, with several stops in between. He was very friendly and caring and helpful, assisting with getting medication and other items outside of the tour sites. He was passionate about the history of the sites, and extremely knowledgeable about the mythology and artwork at each temple and tomb and site. He's an excellent guide and ensured we were well taken care of throughout by the ship, drivers, etc. We highly recommend booking through Luxor and Aswan Travel, and asking for Mohamed Kamal Allam as your guide.

Fascinating experience

I decided to book a 5 days Nile cruise from Luxor to Aswan and it was one of the best decisions in my life. The company, Luxor and Aswan Travel is the perfect choice. Everything was smooth during the entire trip. Hany helped me a lot to customize the cruise according to my needs. The ship, Renaissance was clean and beautiful. All staff members did a great job. I loved the size and design of my cabin, enjoyed tasty food at the restaurant and admired the Nile from the sun deck. The ship made this journey a five star one but it was my tour guide who made everything a truly unforgettable experience. I had the greatest luck to have Michael Edward as my personal, highly skilled guide. He is the best one on Earth. He treated me like a VIP from the first time until the end of the cruise. He not only has an extensive knowledge about Egyptian history, but also one of the kindest people I've ever met. Michael could explain everything in an understandable and completely entertaining way. The mythology, the inscriptions, the hieroglyphs, all the ancient history became so live before my eyes with his interpretation. I've learned so much and thanks to him my trip was perfect. Even all stars from the sky are not enough to express how satisfied I am with him. His professionalism, politeness and kindness makes him a precious person. He managed everything according to my needs, also giving free time to explore all sights after we saw everything together. I have no idea how much he earns but double the amount, please. 🙂 Our drivers were also skilled and polite, made me feel safe every time I got into the car. Thank you for all, huge thanks to Michael!

Lifetime experience along the Nile with an expert guide

Amazing trip down the Nile from Luxor to Aswan with an amazing guide Mo! Started in Luxor seeing the sites of the West Bank (Luxor temple and Karnak temple) followed by the east bank sites the next day (valley of kings, colossi of memnon). In Luxor, we were able to see papyrus being made as well as alabaster. Crusing down, saw the temple of Edfu and Kom ombo and finished in Assuan. Mo made it easy to add on stuff as we liked, including a trip to Nubian village and seeing spices. Had booked Abu Simbel with Luxor and Aswan travels previously and highly recommend (including the early get up to avoid the crowds). Overall an amazing trip, and have to thank our guide Mo, who was very knowledgeable and friendly. It was nice to have a guide who knew the stuff, was relaxed and made sure we didn’t miss anything as well as trying to avoid the bigger groups. Also appreciated Mo telling me when and how much to tip drivers, restaurants etc! I’d recommend this over larger groups as easier to follow your guide and makes it personable as to how long you want to stay at each site (as well as making the valley of the kings easier, as extra tombs such as Tutankhamen are not included with general admission) Overall and amazing trip, and values Mo’s experience and friendliness. Couldn’t recommend more!
