Good Tour when you have nothing else to do, but go with a different tour company.

If you have nothing else better to do or are all “Ancient Egypt”-out, try this change of pace, however do it with a different tour company. Our tour guide was not knowledgeable about the activities nor the area. He was friendly enough to, but he got tired of talking after about 1/2 hour into the tour.

Beautiful adventure in the desert

The tour started at 8am starting directly from the hotel with Mohamed Abd Rabu, our guide, and Mwafi, a very kind driver. Mohamed was immediately welcoming and provided us with several interesting information during the trip. The first stop was Lake Qarun where we stopped for a few minutes and then left for Wadi El Rayan Park in the Al Fayum desert, passing through the village. First there was the car change: we got on an off-road vehicle driven by Farag, a very experienced and nice driver, who made us have fun running on the dunes and singing Arabic songs. Afterwards we stopped on a dune to take some pictures and to try sandboarding: incredible experience and a lot of fun! Getting back in the car, we headed to a small refreshment where we saw the large lake and the small lake, after taking a camel ride. Then we moved first to the Circular Mountain and then to the Magic Lake where it was possible to walk barefoot in the water and then we had lunch in a small desert camp (where you can also stay overnight). Mohamed was very kind, friendly, always attentive and very prepared. He is a guide with several years of experience, speaks very good Italian and is also an Egyptologist. Highly recommended for those who want to enjoy the desert actively and have fun.

Cairo Safari Day Trip: A HUGE Win (Thanks, Ryan!)

Honestly, this trip (4x4 Safari, Magic Lake, etc.) was incredible, and our guide, Ryan, is the reason it was so amazing. Ryan brought all the energy and humor. He totally made the car ride with super music during the safari and drive—it was never a dull moment! The 4x4 drivers were professional, so I felt safe but still got that massive adrenalin rush. The whole agency was great; everything was organized perfectly. They even arranged a special pickup for me outside Old Cairo for an extra cost, which was super helpful. The Only Bummer The only thing I'd change is the camel ride. I felt really awful for the camels; they had visible scars, and it just felt wrong. If I could, I'd skip it and do something else instead. That said, because Ryan was so fantastic and the rest of the trip was top-notch, it still earns a solid 9 out of 10! If you go, ask for Ryan!

Yaya number one!

This review is about the single tour I did with my friends, I don't know if the others offered by OceanAir Travels are of the same quality, but still we had a great time. We booked through GetYourGuide, for about 86 euros each, the daily tour with safari in the Fayoum oasis. Especially for Italian travelers, I would highly recommend the Yaya guide. In addition to speaking perfect Italian, he has everything you could want from a guide: kindness, sympathy, perfect knowledge of the places covered by the tour, willingness to answer all our curiosity about local history and culture. At the beginning of the tour he also provided us with small bottles of water and snacks for the trip. The tour started early in the morning with the van picking us up directly from the hotel. The vehicle was very comfortable and air conditioned. To get to Fayoum it took about 2 hours, where in the meantime we changed vehicles to jeeps that would take us through the desert dunes. To cross the border between the city of Cairo and the Fayoum area, you must pay 5 euros. Yaya was very good at exposing us every place visited: the Wadi El Rayan desert, the Fayoum oasis with its waterfalls, the Qarun lakes and Magic lake, the Mudawara mountain... We whizzed through the desert dunes in jeeps driven by friendly drivers but also sandboarded, rode camels and ended the tour with a traditional lunch in a desert camp, followed by tea. We were then escorted back to the hotel. A magical experience. Again a big thank you to Yaya!

Great experience!!!

Great experience!!! First day in Cairo and we already fell in love with its nature and history. The guide Yaya, always courteous and helpful, has intrigued and passionated us with his culture and his preparation in illustrating the wonders of the place. The Wadi El Rayan reserve is a jewel in the desert and getting there off-road with the 4x4 jeep was wonderful and great fun. Driver Farag was outstanding. To the cry of Yalla yalla!! he launched himself into acrobatics in the desert dunes. An unforgettable experience.

Desert adventure - well worth it!

We had a fantastic day out in the desert with Ryan and 5 other guests. It was well organised, heaps of fun all day with plenty of adventure. Ryan’s great sense of humour, level of knowledge and individual interactions with each group member, made this tour a standout amongst other tours that we have done during our stay in Egypt. We would highly recommend Ryan for any tour, particularly this desert tour, for couples, sole travellers and families with teenage kids. Well worth it.

Experience of a lifetime

Today’s safari tour was absolutely amazing! It’s truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you must try when you visit Egypt. The schedule was full, starting early in the morning and finishing around noon, leaving both my heart and mind filled with unforgettable memories. It was nothing like yesterday’s tour to the pyramids. I believe the biggest difference was the guide. Yesterday at the pyramids, the guide was informative, but that was about it. Today’s guide, Ryan, was simply perfect for the job! In the morning he welcomed us with croissants and juice, and throughout the day he kept us engaged by explaining what we were seeing and sharing short but meaningful stories. He was so polite, genuinely caring, and it was clear he wanted to make this experience truly unforgettable for us. He was very friendly, and even the locals we met along the way seemed to love him. On top of that, he took the best photos, gave us so many useful tips for our stay, and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. Honestly, I wish every guide could be like Ryan. Ryan, if you’re reading this—thank you so much for this once-in-a-lifetime experience. When I come back, I would love to have you as my guide again!
