Alexandria in a day from Cairo

Our hotel pick-up was timely. The transport used was a little uncomfortable for a 6 hour round trip and 10 passengers plus driver and guide. However, the driver was excellent, and so was the guide Mohammed, who was very knowledgeable and fun. We were glad we did the trip and enjoyed it, particularly the catacombs. The meal was OK and only if you like fish. Alexandria in one day was a bit rushed and not quite as wow as I was expecting.

Fun, dynamic, and with lots of historical facts

It was a very nice trip over the city. The guide was nice and fun, he share a lot of his knowledge about the history of the city and took us to the main points/spots of the city always explaining that we were seeing. Is was a nice experience, I would recommend. The only thing I missed was that they didn't give us water, it's a long visit and I think that should also be included in addition to lunch.

A Mediterranean Gem - Alexandria!

Our full-day tour of Alexandria was spectacular from start to finish. We began at the beautiful Montaza Palace Grounds, which offered a peaceful, breezy start to the day. From there, we visited the stunning Bibliotheca Alexandrina—a modern architectural marvel that is a must-see. Our guide, Mohammed Salama, was incredible throughout the day. He provided so much context at the Catacombs of Kom El Shoqafa and during our visits to St. Mark’s Coptic Church and the local Mosque. We ended with the perfect photo op: a breathtaking view toward the Citadel of Qaitbay over the Mediterranean. Mohammed’s storytelling made the history feel alive, and his pacing was perfect. If you’re headed to Alexandria, ask for Mohammed Salam’s!

Disappointing experience: last minute changes and non-compliant service

I booked with Ramasside, via GetYourGuide, an excursion to Alexandria from Cairo. While opting for the VIP package with French guide — the most expensive offer on GetYourGuide — the experience was particularly disappointing due to a total lack of transparency. The contract seemed final, but Ramasside informed me of the absence of a Francophone guide only the day before departure in the late afternoon, AFTER my free cancellation period expired. As a replacement, I received phone audio files, some of which were corrupt and very superficial in content. The logistics were also faulty: the departure time was brought forward from 7.30am to 6.40am by a message received at 10.30pm the day before, depriving us of breakfast at the hotel, for an excursion that finally lasted 14 hours instead of the 11 announced. Worse still, the agency failed in its duty of advice: traveling with a 10-year-old child, I discovered only at the entrance of the Alexandria library that access is forbidden to children under 16. While the delivery of the English-speaking guide on site was good, the commercial management of Ramasside is unacceptable as my complaints have not been adequately answered. I only salute the professionalism of GetYourGuide which was my only responsive interlocutor in the face of these shortcomings and I keep in this company total confidence.

Excellent guide but lying company

Just an amazing guide, who knows his subject at his fingertips! Funny, friendly, passionate... nothing to complain about the quality of his explanations and his energy. Really exceptional. But big black spot: we had paid for a visit in French, and finally the visit was in English. This is unacceptable given the price and what was advertised. Another disappointment: the “VIP tour” that was supposed to be a private tour has turned into a group of 10 people... It is far from the exclusive experience promised. In short: a great guide, but a clearly deceptive company about the service sold. No commercial action despite a large sum committed for a non-compliant service. Very disappointing.

One of the Best Guides in Egypt!

As a trained guide myself, I can tell you about the professional quality as well as the human quality of Salim's tour. He used all the elements of interpretation throughout his six hour tour and he also kept up in touch with what would occur next and review how the rest of the day would flow for our comfort and quality. Salim pick the best parts of his home city to present as if he lived and understood what living in Alexandria meant. As it turned out he lived right along the tour route and I am sure nobody was surprised! He presented his home to us as if it were his second love! Gregg & Joanne

Great

We had a wonderful experience. Karim was a fantastic guide and took great care of us throughout the day. The lunch was delicious, the coastal views were stunning, and Alexandria is absolutely worth visiting.
