The first area is West Elbalad, downtown Cairo where will be meeting and kicking off with some national drinks. The second area is the iconic of the local Cairo where you can explorer Cairo off beaten pavement, the real lives of people, tuk tuks and the local markets. A sandwich of taameya like typical Cairenes use instead of falafel and a plate of Koshary are authentic experiences between locals! 6+ stops will let your belly dance with the Egyptian food. We had a wonderful time and really yummy food. Our guide was knowledgeable and open to discussing all aspects of life in Cairo. We went to places we never would have ventured into to find delightful and delicious foods. Highly recommend!

A day well spent

On our first day in Cairo before the start of our guided tour through Egypt's rich history, cultures and many attractions my wife and I wanted to get to know more about the local culture and what better segue way than an introduction into local cuisine. We booked our tour with Shorouk and Ahmed online (we are based in California) and received a warm welcome email. Great communication from the start. Our meeting point close to the juice shop 'El Sharbatly' in the old city district of Al Balaqsah, Abdeen was a brief Uber ride from our hotel. The tour was excellently organized and took us from 'hole in the wall' type of restaurants, eateries and food carts to neighborhood markets filled with all kinds of vegetable, nuts, herbs and livestock. The selection of dates was truly amazing, all in preparation of Ramadan, the 'Lent' period, which this year ran from February 18 to March 19. Some of the businesses that we visited on our walk have been around for generations. Ahmed turned out to be a resource not only for the local food and grocery scene, but local and regional culture and history - thoroughly enjoyable and informative on many levels. After the consumption of typical Egyptian Lunch, Brunch, Breakfast and Snacks we were treated to a tuktuk ride through the streets of Cairo's oldest district. A day well spent. Thanks, Ahmed and Shorouk.

A must do experience whilst in Cairo

A must do experience whilst in Cairo. One to do on your own or with all the family. This is such a wonderful way to explore local culture and great food, away from the main tourist area.

A must do street food tour giving great insights into local culture and street food

A fabulous food tour in the more quiet back-streets of Cairo. Brilliantly delivered by a wonderful family.

Shorouk was amazing! Highly recommend

Shorouk was absolutely amazing and knew so much about the food. The behind the scene we got at some of the restaurants was unforgettable. The food was sooooo delicious. Highly recommend going on an empty stomach cause there is plenty of food to eat. Excellent value and an easy distance for walking.

More than just a food tour: Authentic, honest and with a lot of heart

In short: Highly recommended. Because the rest of our family was unfortunately sick - I went out alone with my son. Ahmed made this afternoon an absolute highlight of our trip for us. Here are the reasons why you need to book this tour with Ahmed: • Humanity & heart: Ahmed is a fantastic host who has the heart 100% in the right place. • Real insights: We have learned so much about the country and people that you won't find in any guidebook. It was a deep insight into real life in Cairo. • Support Local: I particularly loved Ahmed's targeted support for small, local businesses and family businesses. You can tell he really wants to make a difference here. • No rip-off: In a city like Cairo, it’s worth the gold – Ahmed is absolutely honest, transparent and there are no hidden sales pitches. Just authentic experience. • Time & enjoyment: We never felt like we were being rushed. Ahmed took an extremely long time for us. The food was fantastic everywhere and the impressions of the people and streets of Cairo will accompany us for a long time to come. Tip: Comes with an empty stomach and an open heart. Ahmed will take care of the rest! Thank you, Ahmed, for this special day.

Fabulous food tour!

We had a great food tour with Ahmed. He was passionate about teaching the group about Cairo, Egypt and the food. Eat stop was great and exposed us to different aspects of the food scene. We have done food tours in many countries and this ranks among our favorites!

Be sure to join

Our guide Ahmed was super nice, had a lot of information about life in Cairo and of course about food. First we went to a juice bar and tried 2 juices. Afterwards we went to 3 local restaurants where we ate different local dishes, and finally we had sweet pastries in a bakery. Tip: make sure to arrive with great hunger, because there is a lot to eat, not just small tasting dishes, and everything was really extremely delicious. 2 people had allergies, even Ahmed took that into consideration and organized an alternative depending on the court. The tour is also suitable for vegetarians. We were a small group of 6 people and it was very fun, an all-round successful evening. The tour is fully recommended, you should definitely have gone along with it.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amazing Food Tour Experience in Cairo!

I had an absolutely incredible time on this food tour in Cairo. From start to finish, everything exceeded my expectations. The food was delicious and authentic, with a fantastic variety of local dishes that I probably would never have discovered on my own. Every stop felt thoughtfully chosen and showcased the true flavors of the city. 🍽️🇪🇬 What really made the experience special was our tour guide, Ahmed— extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about Egyptian culture and cuisine. He shared fascinating history, local insights, and stories that made each bite even more meaningful. 🏺✨ The waiters and staff at each location were also warm, welcoming, and attentive, which added to the overall experience. You can truly feel the hospitality everywhere you go. 😊 If you’re visiting Cairo and want to experience authentic food while learning about the culture, I highly recommend this tour. It was one of the highlights of my trip and something I will remember for a long time! Absolutely worth it — come hungry!!
