The first area is West Elbalad, downtown Cairo where will be meeting and kicking off with some national drinks. A sense of home-cooked food prepared like Egyptian grandmothers used to cook everyday is so nice. The second area is the iconic of the local Cairo where you can explorer Cairo off beaten pavement, the real lives of people, tuk tuks and the local markets. A sandwich of taameya like typical Cairenes use instead of falafel and a plate of Koshary are authentic experiences between locals! 6+ stops will let your belly dance with the Egyptian food. Delicious Cairo in the eyes of a friendly family that feels like old friends

My husband and I were huge foodies and we always make sure to join a food tour in every country we visit. We were glad to have picked this tour. Ahmed and Shorouk took us to places only locals go and introduced all the special dishes that the vendors do with great passion. We tried lots of different things and the portions were more than ample. It felt so special as if we had some local friends showing us around their neighborhood. They also stayed in touch after the tour and made sure we knew we could ask them anything about Cairo. We got some great restaurant recommendations from them as well and we went to try the local delicacy stuffed pigeons, which was super delicious. Would really recommend going on a tour with them first thing you get to Cairo!

Stimulating

Ahmed is a thoughtful guide and charming person. He was flexible and altered the tour to our preferences. He continued to provide choice suggestions throughout our stay in Cairo. I would highly recommend it!

Best Food Tour in Cairo

Shorouk’s food tour was nothing short of amazing! She provided great insight on the food and drinks that we sampled, showed us the best local spots for traditional Egyptian dishes, and allowed us to travel on the subway. To top things off, Shorouk also personalized my experience by providing a birthday treat and present to celebrate my special day. I could not have asked for a better food tour or guide!

Great tour!!

I met up with Ahmed only a few hours after my arrival in Cairo. He took my around downtown, and then to his neighbourhood by subway. I was able to sample many different local foods and traditional dishes. I was even able to participate in some juice making. Ahmed took me behind the scenes to see how the food was prepared, and explained where it originated from. Besides all that, he is a great person and a new friend for life.

A great experience.

It was a great experience. The meeting was a warm hug and very cordial. Take us through a lot of local snacks, will also explain very carefully, the atmosphere has been lively, thirsty to buy your own bottle of water without giving us the chance to pay haha. We also shared the family's food culture and fun, and finally the tummy. We waited with us for the Uber driver when we left, and crossed the street first to confirm the driver's license plate for ourselves, saying goodbye again in a tight hug, super touching. It's the most recommended I've had in so many experiences!!

DON'T MISS IT

AMAZING!!!! Shorouk took me to places where only egyptians go, I didn't see even one tourist! The food was incredible, and an adventure. I got to drink sugarcane juice (one of the most incredible things I've ever tasted in my life)! Shorouk personalized the experience for me, I had told her I wanted to see the Nile and she ended the experience taking me on a boat ride on the Nile. She made me feel loved and made the whole experience worthwhile. Definitely do this while you're in Egypt!!!!

Amazing Cairo food experience

*Shorouk arrived at our meeting location with a Birthday surprise for me acknowledging my special day. Incredibly friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and aware of my needs every minute of our time together. We embarked on a delicious food tour of downtown Cairo and Shubra at the best places locals eat the delicacies of the city and the country. Shorouk knew all the places and the people to find all the delights. Every taste was accompanied with stories of her family and the country she loves. From the yummy fava falafel to the cheesy sweet feteer meshaltet, and the real deal koshari. Every bite was aish (life but also means bread!). Couldn’t have been more fortunate than to see and taste Cairo with her on the streets and in the subway where it all came together, fast pace, hustle and bustle, delicious tastes, kindness of the people and hopes for the future- like all of us.*ñ
